Thinking Summer & Different Drummers

Here is my February Block for the

@

Instructions for this sunny block may be found here ...

Sun Sand Sea BOM February Block 1

(Yes, my block looks wrong.
My sun has five rays instead of four as I used a  wedge ruler I had handy
and not the templates helpfully provided.
Must be that different drummer I am hearing as the
snow melts and drips off the roof and onto the ledge outside my window.)

You can also join in the fun here

It is cold and sunny here and we have big piles of frozen white stuff
around us here in New England.

The spring flowers are out there under all that snow.

The Butterfly is still with us,
snuggling under the quilts,
purring and dreaming of warm summer days.

The Butterfly - Updated

My Quilty Kitty Butterfly

needs lots of loving healing wishes

Update:

Butterfly says, "purrrrrrr"

Thank you to all who have sent
healing wishes and messages.

Butterfly came to live with us as kitten,
named and adopted by my daughter,
over 16 years ago and
has lead a very healthy, happy, active life.

Antibiotics have not been able to help with her internal infection.
Her strong heart is failing.
Her prognosis is cancerous.

The decision has been made to keep The Butterfly here at home
for as long as pain meds keep her comfortable.

Butterfly is the most loving cat I have ever known.

Everyday is a treasure.

Heartly Sewing

I got some sewing done today!

This Heart Envelope is inspired by this wonderful

@

Katniss  was very happy to be in our happy sewing space again
and helped with every step of the way ...

Step 1: With your quilty kitty helper, cut paper pattern pieces

(There is a pattern you can print but I did my own thing.
The pattern might have been easier.
Live and learn ... ;)

Step 2:  Stop your Quilty Kitty Helper from eating the paper trimmings
because they might upset her tummy.

Step 3:  Explain to your Quilty Kitty Helper that you
were not trying to mean by taking her snack away.

(More loving and learning.)

Step 4: The pieces to our heart.

We  sandwiched in a piece of batting to make it puffy.

Time to sew!

See instructions in the link above.

Katniss and I decided to add a ruffle.

We decided not to worry about the raw edges that will be on the inside.

Here is the back o our heart.

It is not perfect but it is a gift that comes from the heart.

It is good to be sewing again.

Thinking Sun, Sand, Sea and Fabric

I am back!

My laser eye procedure went well and I am recovering.

Thanks to all who have sent me supportive messages and well wishes
and who have stayed my followers through good times and not so good times.

My vision is already much improved.

Good timing as ...

has released the first Free Block
for the new

Also check out the beautiful block that

has made.

Sew Inspiring!

I am also inspired by fabric.

These are my main choices and color palate for this quilt.

All are from my stash.

It will be a scrappy quilt

I love scrappy quilts!

I love these fabrics!

Makes me feel like a taking a walk on a winter beach near me.

The Atlantic is very cold and the sand is rocky and hard and the wind is biting
at the beaches near me right now
but I love bundling up and walking and breathing in the frosty clean air
and dreaming of the warm sands where this vast body of water flows
on distant shores.

Thinking of sun, sand a surf ... and fabric.

A happy day ... :)
