Feline The Fabric!

I am "feline" the fabric today!

I admit it.
I am a fabric lover.
I just love the moment when the new fabric arrives,
especially a shiny bundle to unwrap and enjoy.

The bundle is

The black print is

The Moda Bella Solids  from my stash
are Betty's Pink, Raspberry and Gray.

Apprentice Quilty Kitty Nutmeg joined me in my fabric appreciation today.

This fabric is quilty kitty approved
for a special new surprise project.

I will not use it all.

I shall pick and chose from these goodies
for this fun project.

Looking forward to getting my fingers started on these pretties.

Today I am setting up my machine to quilt a quilt.

Sneak Peek ~ New Project!

I love my Bella Solids Color Chart.

When I needed to decide on a solid to coordinate with
my Fragile by Zen Chic Mini Charm Project,

I reached for my color chart.

I find this an essential tool when designing and deciding
on colors and fabrics.

There are touches of a lovely blue turquoise in the

fabric line.

I was looking for a solid to bring out this color,
so I opened to the blues and turquoise page
on my handy Bella Solids Color Chart
and looked for the perfect match.

There were several possibilites,
Surf, Capri, Bright Turquoise,
and even Pastel Blue if I wanted to tone it down.

My son the engineer was walking by so I asked him which color he liked best.
He looked them over and pointed out the Bright Turquoise has the same color intensity
of the golden yellow in the Fragile line.
My Matty has a great eye for design and color.
I agreed.

So Bright Turquoise it is!

I am loving sewing with these fabrics!

I am looking forward to showing off this project,
but it shall have to wait.

This is for another great

Maestro, the ever present quilty kitty helper,
says she is on guard to make sure there is no more peeking.

:) Soon! :)

How do you decide what solids to use in a new project?

Do you use a color chart?

I am always interested in sharing quilting tips.

Going Pokemon ~ Block 1 Done

Block 1 is done for the

happening at

This is made with Moda Bella Solids.

I bought the

to start this quilt.
I also chose to use the Bright Turquoise background
that Kelli is using in her quilt.

The pieces are all squares and rectangles
that are sewn together into sections
and then into the block
The first block is 19.5" square.

This is the first time I have sewn this type of pixel block and it is challenging.
Fortunately, the instructions and diagrams are very clear and detailed.
I am enjoying the process.

My block is not perfect but I am pretty happy with how it turned out.

I am ready for Block 2 that will be up this week on

Thanks, Kelli, for the fun pattern!

Hope to see you sewing along ... :-)

And Then There Were Three ...

Meet Nutmeg!

Nutmeg came to us from
in nearby Salem, NH,
where she was then named Brooklyn,
who came there from
in South Carolina.

As you know, in July,

we adopted Maestro at SARL
to fill the empty place left in our home and hearts
when My Butterfly crossed the rainbow bridge in March.

Katniss, who feels very secure in our hearts and home, was very accepting
of this new little sister.
As Maestro grew and became more active we soon decided she
needed a playmate who could keep up with her non stop shenanigans.

Katniss joins in sometimes but often prefers to just sit and watch.

So we needed a little more spice in our life.

Nutmeg is only three weeks younger than Maestro.

The Ying and Yang,
they balance each other perfectly ...

and share the lap and the fun and the quilts.

These two partners in mischief are always
upping their game.
Katniss loves to play along but sometimes
she just wants to seek a quiet place to nap undisturbed.
Her favorite spot is  a basket on top of the big bookcase
in our living room.
The white batting is is my roll up design wall.
Last night The Girls decided to try to join her.

Long legged Nutmeg soon found a way up.
Katniss say "What!?"

 Bookends.

Katniss soon boxed her ears and sent her down.

Maestro, who has a strong and muscular build but is not yet a leaper,
watched the entire time from the floor.

Nutmeg found a quilt and my lap and snoozed,
dreaming no doubt of her next adventure.

Our home feels complete ... <3<3<3

Charity Quilt Along with the FQS

Isn't this a beautiful quilt?

I love the colors and fabrics and the clean crisp look!

This quilt is the

Every year the Fat Quarter Shop hosts a charity quilt along
in which they post monthly patterns on their blog in exchange for a donation
each time a quilter downloads the pattern.
In addition, they auction off a completed charity quilt
where 100% of the proceeds go to the charity of the year.

This year, they have
that they will be donating all of the proceeds of their Clementine Quilt
to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A very worthy cause.

Very often I use my own fabrics but I love the ones in the sample quilt ...
so I am putting the

on my Christmas Wish List.
