I am working on a new quilt with these fabrics from my stash. The pattern I am using is the most recent Mystery Quilt pattern from my friend Jess Smith at the Q&N. It is called "Unexpected Twist" so expect a surprise of some kind. It is a very easy pattern so far and I am sure many quilters could complete this in a weekend, but as always it is slow going for me. So far I have completed only the first steps and have not peeked at the last installment, but my interest is definitely"peaked" ;)
Hope to have a finished top picture for you sometime soon ...
One UFO down ... "too many to want to count" to go ... ;)
Almost three years in the making. This was Jess Smith of the Quilt & Needle's Summer Mystery 2009 pattern ... and one of
my very favorites. You may purchase this pattern here ...
It is made from Jess's kit with no personal changes from the
original pattern or fabrics.
As many of you may know I like to tinker with fabrics and patterns, but not this time. I started piecing this quilt during the Mystery Weekend and
it took me a few extra days to complete the beautiful Irish Chain border.
Then it had to wait in the stack of finished tops for me to machine quilt at my favorite LQS over a year ago. Here is a close up of the quilting on the backing fabric.
I finally finished the hand sewing on the binding last Sunday.
I am
giving my son, Matt, this quilt on Mother's Day
