Little Blessings ~ A New Start

Little Blessings ~ A New Start

On Thursday, I had my first of several eye surgeries to improve and prolong my vision. This was the initial surgery for my left eye and all went well.  I saw the eye surgeon the next morning and he was pleased with the new implant lens but I was having some issues with swelling and blurry vision.  The swelling is better which is a good sign and my vision is a little better in that eye, but I have a long way to go.

My prescription glasses have been fitted for the time being with a clear lens  for my left eye so that I can use the right eye lens.  It is an odd lopsided feeling.  My eyes need to learn to work together again.   Have to teach these old eyes new tricks.

I see the eye surgeon again on Thursday to assess the healing. . Eventually I will have to get a new prescription for my glasses but that is sometime much further down the road.   Even after all the surgeries, I will always have to wear some form of prescription glasses. There has been no discussion yet as to when I may have the second surgery, the first one on right eye, as my left eye needs to heal, and I have another significant health issue that has been scheduled for surgery.

On Wednesday, the day before the surgery,
I cut and bagged the pieces for a  this new quilt.

I have had these fabrics in my stash for a few years,
just waiting for its time to sew, about two yards of the border print with blocks and half yards of the other two fabrics.

To these I am adding some fat quarters of soft and pretty tone on tones and also some "I Spy" type blocks of little farm animals cut from scraps left from other projects.
I love scrappy quilts!

  1. Good luck with your surgeries. We take our vision for granted! Losing it is my biggest fear as I age.

  4. Pat - sounds like you are just getting "Overhauled" (that's my husband's favorite car show - they take old cars and refurbish them to make them better and shinier than new.) See? Sounds like you're on your way to being better than ever. Hang in there and keep us posted on your improvements. (((Hugs)))
