Grand Illusion ~ Quiltville Winter Mystery 2014

Here are my fabrics!

For the ...

Grand Illusion Quiltville Winter Mystery

I cannot resist a good quilt mystery!

Grand Illusion

I love Bonnie Hunter and her quilts, patterns, methods and mysteries.

The fabric requirements may be found Here

My friend Debbieann added up the fabric yardage as follows:

Black - 2 and 1/4 yards (The print is my black)

Green - 1 and 1/2 yards

Turquoise - 2 and 1/3 yards (My color is more blue/violet)

Pink - 2 yards

Yellow - 1 and 5/8 yards

Neutrals - 3 yards

My quilt will not be scrappy.

I have found fabrics in my stash that are large enough cuts to use one fabric.

Part One is Up!

Time to sew ... :)

  2. Great choice of fabrics. I hadn't planned on joining this quilt along because I didn't like the idea of another scrap quilt. But your idea of working from yardage might make it doable. I'm headed over to Bonnie's for another peak at the project instructions so far. Definitely moved to the "Maybe" list!

  3. I have done one of Bonnie's Mysteries from yardage and it turned out lovely. I am pulling scraps from my boxes and just getting as close as I can to the colors this time without purchasing a bunch of new fabrics.

  4. I planned to work on this today but had to decorate the Yacht Club for Christmas. Took 6 hours of my sewing time. I did complete 37 blocks yesterday. So at least I'm on the way. Hope I can finish clue 1 this week.

  6. I like your fabric choices. I think I will have to check out my yardage as well. I know I do not have enough scraps in the right colors, but just maybe.......

  11. Great fabric choices! It's going to be pretty! If I were going to do a Bonnie mystery, I think I'd do what you're doing ... go with one fabric for each color. I just don't have Bonnie's eye for choosing so many different fabrics and knowing that they'll all play together nicely.

I have some of that green! I just used a little of it to make my Christmas ornaments. ;-)
