I Like Thursday # 79 ~ Finding Things to Make Me Smile

I need pretty fabric today.

This Colette Layer Cake has been in my stash for some time waiting for me to appreciate it.

I have decided to add some other stash fabrics to it

and sew this free scrap quilt pattern:

Swirling Stars Free .pdf pattern

from Fat Quarter Shop

Click on the link above to download your free pattern.

The directions call for triangles papers,

but it could easily be done without them.

I like the papers and will probably be using them.

Let's look at these pretty fabric again.

I love the colors and they make me smile.

I need something to make me smile today.

After the events of yesterday,

which include the death of a friend,

I cannot tell you how hard it is for me today to step up and write a post

about things that make me happy ...

...  when all I really want to do is hide and snuggle under the quilts with Nutmeg.

Nutmeg likes to sneak under the top quilt and snuggle up against me at night.

Her purrs make me happy.

I am happy ... even through the sadness.

I am sure you know this feeling, my friends.

  1. Yesterday was a miserable day in our country's history. It was very hard on all of us and it sounds like an even worse day for you Pat. I am sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Snuggle with your kitty and feel your grief. My condolences.

  4. I think you and I had the same day yesterday. I found out my cousin who is 48 years old died suddenly. He was a recovering drug addict had been clean for 3 years, he left behind 6 children under the age of 15. With that and everything else it was so tempting to curl up and just sleep. What gorgeous fabrics and love the pattern you chose.
