There is a bird in this bush.
I heard a robin singing as these bushes are right outside my sewing machine window
so I thought I would go out to see if he would like to pose for a picture.
He did not.
Mr. Robin flew out of the bush in a flash and zoomed away over the fence.
I did see him so I am calling this my first robin sighting of the year.
The first time I heard him was the day of our last big snow.
I am thinking he flew north early as the temperatures in the south have been colder.
It is not common to have robins here in February but it does happen,
even when spring weather is weeks away.
Here is an interesting video about American Robins:

These guys had no problem posing ... as long as I did not interrupt their lunch.
So this shall have to do for my bird photo this week ...
... unless I count this Dove as bird.
Why not?
Mr Scrapatch gave me a bag of these and I keep them in a jar
and have one at night when I am getting ready for sleep.

Great fabric. I don't think I ever read Silent Spring, but I think I read The Sea Around Us, more years ago than I would like to admit. I was just thinking about Robins yesterday, we had a beautiful day and I was listening to a cardinal nearby and listening to all the wrens, and sparrows twittering away. Thanks for the video, I am going to have to watch some of the others.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh that fabric is so pretty perfect for you
ReplyDeletewe just got 12" of snow over night... look out, might be headed east
I love your bird fabric and the text fabric to go with it, too! That is a favorite poem of mine, too. I spotted a robin in our yard yesterday - so happy to see him. I remember reading Silent Spring, too - it had a big impact on me as well.
ReplyDeleteWell, you know I love the bird fabric since we are all about birds here in this household. Our daughter read Silent Spring while in high school, I think and I'm quite sure it continued her desire to become a scientist. Spring is coming if the robins are singing!
ReplyDeletePretty fabric. Good stuff. I've been listening to the titmice starting to switch to their springtime songs. :-)
ReplyDelete"Feed the birds and you never go hungry" - I love this! And you have a lovely winter view with the snow and the birds (doves) :).
