Welcome to the We Support You Blog Hop!

Welcome to the We Support You Blog Hop!

I sewed my support by making a bag!

Ms Snowlady wanted to be my model ... ;)

Here is the back of the bag, which also has a deep pocket.

I had a fun time in my sunny snowy backyard and took lots of photos ...

Ms Snowlady likes the ruffle ...

... and the very convenient "pockets" ... ;)

When dear Madame Samm

asked me to cheer this heart warming hop ...

I said "Yes!' in a heartbeat!

As some of you may know,

I am a cancer survivor.

I see my doctor and have regular screenings and am blessed to be cancer free.

I pray for a cure for cancer in our lifetimes.

May all who have been touched by cancer know how much YOU Are Supported!

Thank you, Madame Samm, for  creating this hop and giving your beautiful pattern
to all the participants in this hop!

The "We Support You" Friendship Quilt Pattern is available
for purchase for $12.00 by emailing Madame Samm directly to

Katniss really liked this idea ... ;)

I enlarged the pattern 250% on my home printer.

These looked to be about "B" size ... ;)

I knew right away that I wanted to make a good sized overnight  bag ...

so I gathered materials and started a plan.

Lots of trims and lace and hand stitching!

I made this bag as a gift for someone very dear to me

to carry with her and bring a smile to her face.

I never make bags.

This is far, far outside my usual quilty box.

I saw a bag style that I liked on the internet and

then decided to make my own one of a kind one of kind creation ...

so I drew up my own pattern pieces.

This bag has ...

a zipper!

This is the first time I have made a large bag with a zipper.
It is the first time I used my zipper foot.

Katniss was very helpful ... ;)

Sew was Butterfly ... :)

There is a lot of hand  and machine sewing in this creation.

Sewing this bag made me happy.

May it bring healing and happiness wherever it goes.

Here are some more photos that I took outside ...

front

back

I used a two sided pre-quilted and regular fabrics,

close up of the back details and padded, quilted handles.

This bag measures 24" wide, 18" high and 6" deep.

The bottom and sides and front pocket
are reinforced with Pellon Peltex 72F,
which is a double fusible that holds its shape well.

Here is a close up the front "pockets" on my WIP bag ...

I had sew much fun making this lined, padded,
3-D version of this design!

Life in The Scrapatch (You Are Here)

I am sew looking forward to every stop in this hop!

Thanks to

for this wonderful initiative

and for sharing her beautiful pattern!

Thanks to all who have been sew-supportive!

While I was outside taking these photos the sun disappeared

behind the clouds again.

I caught the last few rays on the steps on my way back inside.

These photos were taken on Sunday.

before  the "historic blizzard"  Juno

arrived in my quilty corner on Monday and continued to Wednesday.

That meant deep snow, high winds and coastal flooding.

I am happy that I have finished my project and photo shoot

to share my project with you.

Fortunately for us, we did not lose power

as we are having a deep freeze here.

There is more snow in the forecast this week.

I am ready for spring ...

and for all the beautiful creations in this hop!

Thanks to all who have sewn their support!

Happy Hopping!

  4. What a way to start the hop! Your bag is fantastic and I'm sure someone is going to be thrilled to take it to treatment. I'm over the moon that you are cancer free. I couldn't take a pic in the snow if I wanted. If I didn't know better, I'd think I was in FL instead of OK. We had temperatures today that we haven't had in 100 years today - it wasn't a total record breaker BUT we were in the 80's today. We have been fortunate that we have had no snow to mention this year - the down side is the lack of much needed moisture. Again, you have the hop off to rip roaring start. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
