My Red and White Clementine
I am sewing along to make this beautiful quilt!
I love this pattern!
This is for the
@
The Jolly Jabber
So much that I am making two quilts.
Above is the large Watermelon Block
in the scrappy red fabrics from my stash.
I am using Kona White for the background of the blocks
in this quilt.
The little Broken Dishes blocks were made with the cutaways.
The piecing instructions called for drawing lines, sewing and then cutting the corners.
Drawing lines is not my favorite thing to do.
It is the only "piecing pet peeve" that I have.
I think it derives from my vision issues.
I have a difficult time seeing and sewing on the lines.
I have tried a variety of marking pens and pencils over the years
but have never found anything that works for me.
So I always find an alternative method.
This my personally preferred method:
I carefully place the corner square on the main fabric unit
on a cutting board on my sewing table.
Using a 1/4 inch ruler, cut away the corner.
Then I chain piece the triangles and main units.
I also like to sew those little HST into little blocks
for my 15 minutes of play at the end of each session.
Snip the doggy ears and sew!
I find this method fun, fast and very accurate.
