Welcome to the We Support You Blog Hop!

Welcome to the We Support You Blog Hop!

I sewed my support by making a bag!

Ms Snowlady wanted to be my model ... ;)

Here is the back of the bag, which also has a deep pocket.

I had a fun time in my sunny snowy backyard and took lots of photos ...

Ms Snowlady likes the ruffle ...

... and the very convenient "pockets" ... ;)

When dear Madame Samm

asked me to cheer this heart warming hop ...

I said "Yes!' in a heartbeat!

As some of you may know,

I am a cancer survivor.

I see my doctor and have regular screenings and am blessed to be cancer free.

I pray for a cure for cancer in our lifetimes.

May all who have been touched by cancer know how much YOU Are Supported!

Thank you, Madame Samm, for  creating this hop and giving your beautiful pattern
to all the participants in this hop!

The "We Support You" Friendship Quilt Pattern is available
for purchase for $12.00 by emailing Madame Samm directly to

Katniss really liked this idea ... ;)

I enlarged the pattern 250% on my home printer.

These looked to be about "B" size ... ;)

I knew right away that I wanted to make a good sized overnight  bag ...

so I gathered materials and started a plan.

Lots of trims and lace and hand stitching!

I made this bag as a gift for someone very dear to me

to carry with her and bring a smile to her face.

I never make bags.

This is far, far outside my usual quilty box.

I saw a bag style that I liked on the internet and

then decided to make my own one of a kind one of kind creation ...

so I drew up my own pattern pieces.

This bag has ...

a zipper!

This is the first time I have made a large bag with a zipper.
It is the first time I used my zipper foot.

Katniss was very helpful ... ;)

Sew was Butterfly ... :)

There is a lot of hand  and machine sewing in this creation.

Sewing this bag made me happy.

May it bring healing and happiness wherever it goes.

Here are some more photos that I took outside ...

back

I used a two sided pre-quilted and regular fabrics,

close up of the back details and padded, quilted handles.

This bag measures 24" wide, 18" high and 6" deep.

The bottom and sides and front pocket
are reinforced with Pellon Peltex 72F,
which is a double fusible that holds its shape well.

Here is a close up the front "pockets" on my WIP bag ...

I had sew much fun making this lined, padded,
3-D version of this design!

Life in The Scrapatch (You Are Here)

I am sew looking forward to every stop in this hop!

Thanks to

for this wonderful initiative

and for sharing her beautiful pattern!

Thanks to all who have been sew-supportive!

While I was outside taking these photos the sun disappeared

behind the clouds again.

I caught the last few rays on the steps on my way back inside.

These photos were taken on Sunday.

before  the "historic blizzard"  Juno

arrived in my quilty corner on Monday and continued to Wednesday.

That meant deep snow, high winds and coastal flooding.

I am happy that I have finished my project and photo shoot

to share my project with you.

Fortunately for us, we did not lose power

as we are having a deep freeze here.

There is more snow in the forecast this week.

I am ready for spring ...

and for all the beautiful creations in this hop!

Thanks to all who have sewn their support!

Happy Hopping!

A Good Day to Stay In and Sew!

Outside is is still snowing!

Inside is is snug and warm and LIGHT!

Yesterday I installed a

and today it is sew much easier to sew!

As my regular readers know,  I am significantly vision impaired.

I need a lot of light to see my work and it needs not to shine directly in my eyes,
as a twist of fate also makes my eyes light sensitive.

I am awaiting my next eye surgery.

It was to have been today, but we had to change it to late February.

Good thing, too!

There is a state ordered travel ban in effect here due to the blizzard.

So I am sewing today.

Many in my state have lost power but we are okay right now and I am hoping the lights stay on.

Especially now that I have this lovely new light shed on my sewing machine bed,

Here is a photo I took yesterday ...

(This photo shows just my regular sewing machine lights
with the large overhead light that I have had to use to supplement.)

(This photo shows the light just from the new LED strip;
my machine is turned off.)

I hope you can see how much brighter this is.
My photos are not quite doing this justice.

These lights were very easy to attach following the instructions in the package
and a video of the link above ...

and the best thing is that they shine light right where I need it and not in my eye!

Thank you, Inspired LED, for lighting my world!

What am I working on today ...

These cute monkey fabrics!

The last weekend in December I cut and started sewing this HERE

as I was helping my friend, Jess Smith @ The Quilt & Needle

These mystery patterns are also available

This one does not seem to be for sale as a whole pattern
so I cannot show you the full top yet.

I am putting the finishing touches on the top today
and hope to be quilting it soon!

I will post pictures when I know it is okay to reveal the pattern.

I have been doing a lot of sewing lately that I cannot show just yet.

I am looking forward to showing more of these projects as soon as I can.

... like my We Support You project for

Here is what it looks like outside my window today ...

Ms Snowlady is wearing a skirt!

You can see how deep the snow is ... almost to the top of our 30 gallon yard waste bucket
in the left side of the photo near the fence.

We are in the 28" to 36" band of snow from Winter Storm Juno.

We have over 30" now and the snow is still falling and drifting.
and the winds are picking up again.

May everyone in the storm's path stay safe and snug and warm.

Tomorrow will be a good day to stay in and sew, too.

If the lights go out, I do have a hand project that I am working one, too.

Let me sew ... let me sew ... let me sew ...  ;)

Outside My Window Today

Outside my window updated ... :o)

Sunday is sunny and cold and I ventured out to visit Ms Snowperson.

The pictures below were taken while it was still snowing
and the wonderful men in my life were outside shoveling.

I stayed snug inside.
It was a good day for sewing.
I finished my We Support You Blog Hop project!
Woo-hoo!

Please visit Ms Snowperson and I again on Thursday.
We have something we want to show you!

Yesterday outside my window ...

It's snowing!

So Grampy made a snowman for baby Everly.

Baby Everly is snug and warm and snoozing

in a place where it is warm and sunny in the southland ...

many miles away ...

... dreaming of Grampy's snowman.

:-)

Bird Tree Blog Hop Sign Ups are Open ... and a Giveaway!

I love birds!

From the time when I was very young, my mother taught me to put
handfuls of seed out for the winter birds.

"Feed the birds and you will never go hungry" was what she always said to me.

It was something her grandmother said to her.

I have always loved watching and feeding the birds.

Cardinals are one of my favorites.

So you can imagine how thrilled I was when this

This Little Birdie Pincushion was made and sent to me by the one and only

Deonn Stott @ Quiltscapes

It is a treasure!

To make one of these adorable pincusions ...

Deonn's Little Birdies Pin Cushion Tutorial may be found Here

Thank you, Deonn!

The fabric behind my beautiful Little Birdie Cardinal is a panel from ...

This fabric collection is

and I love it!

Sew We Quilt

I went digging through my stash!

Some time ago I saw this panel on a table at a quilt show and snapped it up with the thought
that maybe I would want to make a wall hanging with it.
I did not see any of the other Beautiful Birds fabrics at that time
or I would surely had bought them, too.

So I will be looking for other fabrics in this line for this hop to add to this panel.

I am sew excited to be joining in this hop and hope many of you will be joining us, too!

According to the hop requirements, you may choose other bird fabrics, as needed.

This hop will be ably cheered by the lovely

Lana @ It Seams To Be Sew

In the spirit of giving and paying it forward, I am offering a ...

Giveaway!

The piece I bought had two panels.

Each panel measures about 22" square
a good size for a small wall hanging or other project.

Instead of waiting to share the second panel
in a giveaway in the hop,

I am offering to send my extra panel to someone
who would like to use it in this hop!

So here are the rules of this special giveaway ...

(1)  Post a comment on the Blog Hop Announcement
and send Lana and email.

(2) Post a comment here on my blog on this post below telling me you are joining in the hop and that you would like to receive this panel and use it for the hop.

(3) Have fun!

I will send this panel anywhere in the world.

This Giveaway will be open for one week
and will close at Midnight on January 23rd EST.

The winner will be announced on Saturday, January 24th.
