Welcome to my
Christmas in July ~ Then and Now
Here is my "Then" quilt.
In 2012, I posted this photo of Katniss' First Christmas with us
and said I had made it a "few years ago" so I know it predates 2012.
As it does not appear in any other photos on my blog, I know it also
predates my blog which was started in 2009.
All I know is it is the first Christmas quilt I made.
It was made with a panel, some fat quarters and yardage
from an old Nancy Halvorsen collection.
I love the colors in this quilt and the vintage designs.
I made a pillow with then leftover fabrics
Here is the pillow with my "Now" quilt.
The greens and shades of red are similar and there is a bit of gold.
My "Now" quilt is this one ...

Both quilts are pretty and very festive. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove, love your first quilt. Absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy! Both quilts are beautiful, but your latest is just stunning! I love the bright and cheery colors against the white background.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your beautiful Christmas quilts! Can’t wait to see what scrappy goodness you are creating next! 😉
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilts; I love them!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt turned out gorgeous. When I get back to mine I know who to go to if I have problems to ask questions.
ReplyDeleteOh Pat, that is just lovely!! Both of them are actually :) But I love the poinsetta one. You did a great job on them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful projects both then and now! Love the fabrics in both!
ReplyDeleteBoth projects are beautiful! I don't know which I like better--love the dark colors in the "then" quilt but the brightness of the "now" quilt is lovely too! Thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilts - I'm sure the scrappy new quilt will be gorgeous, too. My question..."Whatever happened to your first Christmas Quilt?" You never mentioned and it sounded as though you no longer had access to it. I hope to do my first Christmas quilt one of these days.
ReplyDeleteThose are both beautiful quilts, Pat! I especially love the way the pine trees are pieced in your "now" quilt!
ReplyDeleteWOW, this is amazing, Pat. Love everything about it!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful quilts. The pattern for your "NOW" quilt is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThese are both really beautiful quilts. Thank you for sharing them with us and adding a little bit of joy to our day :)
ReplyDeleteWow both your quilts are gorgeous. Thank you for sharing today.

I love the Poinsettia Winter quilt....it's so lovely. I just found and ordered Jason Yenter's book and am looking for the fabrics now. Would you tell me how many yards of the border stripe is needed for the quilt. I've only found the fabric in one place and would like to order it before it's gone; even before my book arrives. Thanks so much. Love your post! Blessings from southeastern West Virginia.
ReplyDeleteI love your “then” quilt! I’m a fan of Nancy Halvorsen fabrics. Your “now”quilt is stunning! I’m anxious to see what you do with the scraps!
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, Pat! I love your Poinsettia Winter quilt too - that is stunning! - Woo, that border really elevates the already-wonderful design. The first one is lovely too. Thanks for sharing these pretties!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilts, thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAll your quilts are gorgeous, but this one new one is extra spectacular. Sure to bring a ton of holiday joy! You know, now we are all going to want to make this! :-)
ReplyDeleteThose quilts are totally amazing! The "now" quilt is beyond gorgeous and the fabrics are so bright. I love it! Thank you, Pat, for sharing your "then and now" with us.
ReplyDeleteBoth quilts are great for adding seasonal cheer. The "then" quilt is classy and reminds me to look through panels from my start in the quilting world. You've inspired me to make something similar which I think is possible with my growth in understanding choosing colors. Thanks for sharing.

Love the now quilt, the fabrics and the design.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilts!
ReplyDeleteOh, your new quilt is simply lovely! Thanks for posting the pattern - I may have to take a look . . .
ReplyDeleteI can see why you love this quilt - it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBoth your quilts are beautiful, but I adore the Poinsettia one! Thanks or sharing.
ReplyDeleteBoth are beautiful. I really love the poinsettia quilt - my favorite winter flower!
ReplyDeleteI love them both.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThey're both amazing quilts - so different in colourways but very reflective of the season. Thank you for inviting us to come for a visit with you.
ReplyDeleteSo different, and yet so beautiful both of them. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Pat! Both quilts are beautiful but I am especially fond of the now one. I love those fabrics and colors - how nice you can make a scrappy quilt using the leftovers. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteOh wow those are super gorgeous quilts, in love with your now quilt!
ReplyDeleteThe fabrics give that quilt an almost 'color wash' look - fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThose are both so amazing! I'm in awe!
ReplyDeleteChristmas quilts are great, aren't they? Your "then" quilt looks old-timey now and very comforting. Your "now" quilt is astonishingly pretty. The white makes it really dazzling. It's funny how our color choices change over time, isn't it? I have a Christmas quilt I made circa 2003 that uses colors very much like your "then" quilt...and the Christmas quilt I am slowly working on now is much lighter. I suppose we will make it easier on the quilt historians than if we didn't follow any identifiable paths. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt, with those lovely bright colors. Your "then" quilt is a treasure to keep too! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are just fabulous.
ReplyDeleteIncluding that red plaid really makes the reds part of the quilt. I like both the then and then now quilts.
ReplyDeleteBoth quilts are beautiful. I'm going to have to find that pattern and fabric.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could pick a favorite of the two of these. They are both so very beautiful. Each unique in there own way. I love em and so glad to see you participating today. I would have hated not seeing these ... They truly are beautiful.
