My Stitch Sew & Show Linky Party ~ Week 10

Welcome to Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 10

I am late posting today, because I had to visit my eye doctor.

I have been having significant vision issues recently that has been affecting my sewing ability and computer time.

It is looking more and more like another eye surgery may be in my future.

I have not made the decision yet to go forward with this

as it is not a quick laser surgery.

This would require a transplant and hospital care.

There is a lot to consider.

I did finish the combined Borders 4 & 5 for my SAHRR 2021.

Week 3 was completed Here.

Week 4 called for a "Checkerboard" and  Week 5 called for "Wonky Stars."

I combined the two to make this 6.5" Streaming Star Block.

I really like this block and you will be seeing it again ... hopefully soon!

Yesterday I did sew up this new spring mask for me to wear to my appointment.

I made this following my own tutorial:

Making a Custom Mask with Neck Straps

For my filter layer I am using a square of this ...

Mountain Mist Polypropylene Filter Fabric

I really think the helps to keep the fabric from collapsing against my face.

It does not make the mask too hot. Nor does it increase breathing difficulty.

My hubby has dose one of the vaccine and has his appointment for the second dose.

I am trying to schedule my own appointment. We hope to be fully vaccinated soon,

but we will be wearing masks everyday for the foreseeable future.

Today's prompt for the #IGQuiltFest2021 is "Quilts of Significance."

I am sharing my Dream Big Quilt ~ Finished Here

This quilt has a faced binding.  This post includes my

How To Face a Quilt Binding Tutorial

  1. So sorry to hear about your eyes. They are so important, especially to us quilters. I've had some problems myself, but took a laser surgery. Now it's better. You made a beautiful mask. I hope you will soon put it away and live normally again.

  2. I'm sorry your eyes are giving you trouble. It's a big decision you face on whether you have surgery. Your mask is really pretty and perfect for the warmer months.

  4. Oh my, I too am sorry to hear about your eye issue. I've written several times about my fear of losing eyesight and I just found out I have one variant for late onset macular degeneration. Yes, take your time and weight all the issues for sure. That is if time is not of the essence. Such a beautiful mask!
