Easy Tumbling Blocks

Easy Tumbling Blocks

Really Easy Tumbling Blocks

This is what I have been "playing with" the last two days.

My friend Kathy, who is a new quilter, asked me about this pattern and I had never made it before, although it has long been on my "To Do List."  We looked at some of the patterns and tutorials online and I said I would try to figure it out and get back to her.  I am sew glad Kathy gave me the nudge to give this a try.  The challenge was to use easy cutting and piecing techniques.

These tumbling blocks were constructed without templates, without a specialty ruler, without "y" seams, without marking dots and lines on the fabric, without starting and stopping and rotating the units and starting and stopping again.

I used my rotary cutter, regular straight edge rulers and my cutting mat to cut the diamonds and triangles.

I laid out the fabric pieces and chain pieced the diamonds and triangles together in strips.

Then I simply pinned and sewed the strips together, removing the pins as I went.

It was sew easy!

Tutorial with lots of pictures coming tomorrow.

Oh good (about the tutorial)! Because I am having a hard time figuring out how you do that without special tools or seams... :)

Hi, Anna ...

Part 1: Fabric Selection and Cutting is up!

If you have any questions, I will do my best to answer. I really consider myself an "experienced beginner," though, when it comes to all things quilty.

Part 2: Sewing is coming soon ...:)
