OMG ~ My April Goal is Done!

Maestro's Quilt is bound and done!

My OMG April 2020 Goal Here was to bind this quilt.

My Senior Quilty Kitty had to step in to keep me on track.

We are
with a few hours to spare.

This quilt has been quilty kitty inspected ...

... approved with  Quilty Kitty Thank You Kisses ...

... and ready for napping.

Enjoy your quilt, Maestro.

I am enjoying having met my monthly goal.

:-)

I Like Thursday # 53 ~ Quilty Kitty Love

Maestro says, "Good Morning,

Mommy needs to get my quilt done so I am
taking over her blog today so she can sew.
Mommy will be posting soon.

I have been helping but she keeps taking stuff away from me."

"Nutmeg got in trouble for unrolling Mommy's big roll of batting under her long arm today.
We thought that thing is a cat scratching toy.
I mean Nutmeg thought.
I was just watching, really.
I told Nutmeg not to do it again."

"Then Nutmeg decided she was going to help Mommy to get back on her good side."

"Guess I will pretend to take a nap.
I am not sulking ... really.
Mommy says she can see my eyeballs shifting under my lids,
but that is REMs.
I insist she did not catch me peeking."

"Anyone have any good critter videos for me to watch today?"

Mommy says Katniss looked like this as a kitten.

I was a cute kitten.

This is what I looked like when I got "Home"
when I was three months old

This is my favorite Me and Mommy photo.
See how cute I am.
I was so happy to curl up with Mommy.

Hope all you and your pets have a Happy Thursday. "

Mommy Edit:

Here is a video of Maestro giving Kitty Kisses to say thanks for her new quilt.

OMG - Count Down On!

My OMG April 2020 Goal Here is to bind this quilt.

The month is slipping away and I had not even started this goal until today.

Today I made the binding and machine stitched it to the front.

Then I started to hand stitch it to the back.
I really enjoy this bit of hand work to finish a quilt.
It gives me time to pause, to reflect and to enjoy.

Maestro is very actively helping me with this stitching.

I have to take time to pause and distract the cat.
She loves this bit of round elastic which she claimed while I was sewing masks.

Maestro is clearly laying claim to this quilt.

Together we are making progress.

Two days and counting down.

Hope to get this one done before the month runs out.

Have you completed your April Goal?

Hope we all get 'er done!

Rainy Monday ~ Slow Stitching Day

My stitching is done on my

This is for a blog hop project coming in May
so it will be awhile before my finished project appears on my blog.

Here is a sneak peek.

It is a cool and rainy day here in the northeast and I am
spending another day enjoying with my hand stitching  in my cozy home.

This is my project for today.

I already stitched the white tree design on navy
and am making another pink cherry blossom
and will be using the fabric on the left to complete the project.

I am trying a different chalk marker to see if it works better.
It is a chalk pencil I bought somewhere at a quilt show.
I have been using my Clover Chaco Liner, but is does rub off easily.

If you do sashiko, I would be interested
in what you use for a marking pen.

Maestro is my stitching helper of the day.
Kitty is a little annoyed with me as I had to keep shooing her off my light box
(and put it away without taking photos)
and she has been trying to run off with my threaded needles.
In protest to my stopping her fun, she knocked my scissors, thread spools
and other things off the table.

Kitty is looking at me and saying, " No fun. Mommy, you are not letting me help today.
I will sit on your chair and turn my back on you."

Time to put my stitch project away for awhile and go pet my kitty.

May you have a happy and healthy day.

Sashiko Slow Stitch Sunday

Today I started a new slow stitch sashiko project.

I really enjoy these small hand stitching.

This is the back of my project.
I use solid fabric that does not have a front or back side for sashiko.
I have no idea if I am "doing it wrong."
I find and use methods and techniques that work for me.
I mark with a Clover Chaco Liner pen and it rubs off a little as I stitch
but it last long enough for me to stitch and it is not permanent.
I actually put as few marks as possible.
Sometimes I add details as I go along.

The stitching on this one is going very quickly.

The stitching on this cherry blossom is complete.

Finished project will come later as it is for a blog hop in May.

My New Quilt Is Bound!

The binding is finished on my Daylily Chloe Quilt.

I took it outside on this lovely sunny Saturday for a photoshoot.

I am pattern testing for

This pattern will be for sale soon in her shop
and I will post my finished quilt photos for the release.

For my binding I used the light periwinkle print from the blocks for the accent color
and added a dark purple marble for the main color.
I used King Tut Threads for the quilting and binding,
Angle Green for the quilting and Angel Lavender for the binding.

I like to use my
for winding my binding.

I followed my
for making this binding.

For this method I sew the binding first to the back of the quilt.

Then I flip it to the front and use my zipper foot
to make a clean line of stitches in the narrow flange.
I matched my thread color to the light flange fabric.

The zipper foot allows me to get a precise turn for the mitered corner,

This is the finished corner.

This is my favorite machine binding method.

I like to choose this binding to add the accent detail to some of my quilts.

More photos soon.

Rainy Days and Quilting Never Bring Me Down

It was a gray and rainy day here today, a good day to stay in and quilt.

I finished the quilting on my

Those last stitches are always sew sweet!

Katniss was my Quilty Kitty Helper of the Day.
The little kitties were both napping on the quilt on my bed most of the day.

Here is a closeup of the quilting.

I did an edge to edge, hand guided large swirl,
which is my favorite go-to design for free motion quilting.
I never get tired doing this one
as the motion is fluid and relaxing.

This quilt is off the frame.
The binding is ready.
Tomorrow I will stitch on the binding.
The forecast is for afternoon sun before it turns cloudy and rainy again,
so it will be the best day to take my quilt outside
for a natural light photo shoot.

Time for sleep tonight.

Sweet Quilty Dreams!
