The Thread That Binds

Comfort Given ~ Comfort Received

On Friday, May 4th, 2012 I posted
... and One Prayer ... at a time
:-) Pat"

If you have been a long time reader of my blog or if you look back at my archives,
you will see there is a long pause between September 2011 and May 2012 where I had very few words to say ... and was doing no sewing.

There were a lot of reasons for this and many of them are not my story to tell.
Also during this time, my always problematic vision declined very rapidly.
I was caught in a time where I could not find my happy place.
My happy place is with the pretty fabric flowing through my fingers
and I could not, or would not, let the healing stitches do their work.

What changed is that someone needed one of these blocks ...

HERE is the pattern we use for these quilts

This block is peach and white as it is for a brave and wonderful lady
who is battling uterine cancer.
May she soon be hugged and comforted by her quilt.
May she feel the love and healing prayers we send as we stitch.

The block I made in May 2012 when I brushed the dust off my sewing machine was
for a dear friend, Gerda, who now smiles on our quilty endeavors
from the other side of the bridge.
Quilters leave a legacy stitched of love.

Since then I have made many of these blocks and sent them off to let those who need a quilty hug know how much they are loved.

The blocks in the quilt I received are to comfort me as I go about my daily tasks while I undergo the multiple surgeries and recoveries needed to prolong my vision.

This is the beautiful Bright Hopes Quilt that my dear quilting friends made for me ...

What even some of my closest friends did not know at the time,
because I only shared this privately,
is that last fall I also had surgery for uterine cancer.
I was very fortunate and I am blessed.
The last biopsy told me I am cancer-free.

Thanks to those who sew and pray.

I will be in my happy place today ...

... just keep sewing ...

:-)
