Free Pattern Friday ~ Fort Worth Fabric Studio ~ Spooky Mystery 2023

The kitties and I are playing with our Halloween fabrics and trying to decide
if and what to sew for a new free pattern.
Katniss likes the look of these ...
and she likes the kitty bed on the cutting table for her comfort.

Our Free Pattern Find for this Friday is the:

Fort Worth Fabric Studio ~ Spooky Mystery 2023

This mystery is in it's second week

and there are already many spooky quilts in the making on the

FWFS Facebook Group

This quilt shop offers several free mystery patterns per year

and sells kits for each one.

These step by step weekly instalments will only remain free on their website for awhile

before they are turned into a for purchase whole pattern.

At some point these become whole patterns

available only for purchase.

Download now if you want them free!

I appreciate the fun free downloads while they are available and if I find a pattern that I like that I missed when it was free, I am happy to buy it, too. I thank the designers for sharing their creativity during their design and testing and appreciate that they must also earn their living. Just sharing my thoughts here.

Previous Halloween Mystery from Forth Worth Fabric Studio

that are still free at the date of this post:

FWFS  ~Dark Flight ~ 2022

This one is still available for free download at this time.

Download for free now!

There are several other free downloads still available in the archives:

Forth Worth Fabric Studio ~ Free Patterns Archive

Again ... be forewarned.

Download those that are free now if you want them!

I am not affiliated with this lovely quilt shop,

which always sends a few little gifts with their orders,

a tea bag, a piece of candy, a small notion.

~~~
Here are my three possible fabric pulls for sewing
the Stay Spooky 2023 Mystery:
Pick  # 1:
The Stay Spooky Kit from Fort Worth Fabric Studio
(plus a panel and a charm pack)
These fabrics are glow in the dark!
I usually buy a few Halloween fabrics per year for my stash
and these were my choice this year.
Pick # 2
This is a combo of a few fabric lines from my stash.
Pick # 3
This combines the kit fabrics with the bright "Pretty Creepy"
by Cori Dantini for Free Spirit fabrics from my stash.
Pick # 4
(Nutmeg's Choice)
This combines some pink and purple
Boodacious from Kaufman Fabrics and
Spooky and Sweet by Art Gallery Fabrics.
As you can see, the kitties and I have a lovely large stash to choose from.
We need to get sewing.
Well ... Cassian actually is thinking, "Why are you playing with fabric
 and sitting at the computer?
You need to give us lunch. You're late!"
Maestro is takings matters into her own paws and saying,
 " Leave this to me!
I will get it posted!
 You go get us lunch.
Now!"
~~~~

What would you pick for this quilt???

I always enjoy hearing my readers fabric thoughts.

After lunch, the kitties and I cut and sewed.

Can you what we chose? :)

Free Pattern Friday Linky Party ~ Moda Blockheads 5 and More!

Here is my Moda Blockheads 5 ~ Bright Star Block

The light and breeze coming in my window today is from the off-shore hurricane in the Atlantic.  Current forecast modules show it staying far enough out to sea from the New England coast that we will only get some rain and light winds tonight and tomorrow.  May all in the path of the storm stay safe and well.

This is a free block pattern and sew along.

All you need to know is in the links below to sew your own version of this block!

MBH5 ~ Block 1 ~ Posted Here

This Bright Star Block is designed by

Betsy Chutchian ~ Her Blog Post Here

I looked at all the half square triangles in this block
and decided I was going to cut and piece it differently.
I knew what I wanted to do.

Before I had time to figure it all out,

 I fortunately saw the someone else had done all the work for me ...

I used the simplified cutting and sewing instructions posted by

MBH5 ~ Block 1 ~ Fig Tree Quilts

Here are the Dawn on the Prairie fabrics from

Stephanie Sliwinski @ Fancy That House Design

that I chose for my block.

Here are the pieces to the puzzle.

I used my preferred method of cutting my 1/4 inch seams

before I sewed my flying geese and flip and sew rectangles.

I pressed my seams to nest and sewed.

Not perfect, but I am very happy with my block.

Free Pattern Friday ~ New Weekly Linky Party

I found this orphan block recently
while searching in my sewing storage boxes
and decided to share it again for my
Free Pattern Friday post.

This is a free block pattern of my own design:

The cutting and sewing instructions may be found in the link below:

Jelly Roll House Block 1 ~ Free Block Design

I had intended this to be a series of blocks, but my interest has waned.

Now, I am thinking of turning this orphan block into a fall pillow cover.

I love making my house cozy and warm with seasonal pillows and quilts.

~~~
Here is a fun free pattern and tutorial for turning blocks into pillow covers:
Beverly McCullough @ Flamingo Toes
 has a wonderful video tutorial in the link below:
Patchwork Fall Pillows by Flamingo Toes for RBD
The free block pattern .pdfs  may be downloaded on Beverly's Blog:
I am sharing this as part of my new
