I am planning to sew the largest size.

Also, I may use my scraps to make the smallest blocks and a matching pillow.

The black and white print is my planned background fabric.

I will be adding solid white fabric in some blocks, as I think needed.

I have been working in my sewing and quilting place to reorganize.

I have bought these nice plastic bins to store my projects

I bought these at Target and replacing my old fabric bins,

which my quilty kitties have shredded as scratching posts.

My kittes have plenty of real scratching posts and such

but cats will be cats ... and I love my kitties.

Sweet Tea and Quiting

I am quilting.

I love doing straight line quilting with my walking foot.

It is sew soothing.

Looking forward to showing you this sample quilt in February.

The fabric is Sweet Tea by Sweetwater for Moda Fabrics. 

It is is a sweet as a glass of sweet tea on a summer day.

I am dreaming of summer and sipping hot tea

on this cold New England night.

After a happy day of chain piecing on my sewing machine,

I have a nice little stack of blocks.

My bed time tea of choice is a hot tea

on this cold wintery night.

It is Thursday and somehow I let it slip by without visiting my friends at

I Like Thursday @ Not Afraid of Color

Not too late to be thankful for the gifts in life,
large and small.

I am thankful.

There was laughter last night when I went out to dinner with three very old friends.

There was thankfulness that we still get together to share life.

There was sharing of the things that happen in life that are not always what we planned for.

There was one more chance to say Happy New Year to each other
and to their husbands, two of whom have cancer, one of whom is in hospice.

On Saturday my hubby and I will be going to visit his family out of state
and attend the service for his oldest brother who fought the good fight against cancer
and now is at peace after one last Christmas with his youngest grand children.

I am thankful for the sweet and sometimes bittersweet in life.

I just keep sewing and giving thanks.

Jelly Glazed Hearts ~ Fat Quarter Shop Quiltalong

This is a long runner and will be a good size for my dining table 

at home. Here it is on my daughter's table for four

 in her bright dining nook. 

It is a two sided table runner.

For the backing I cut This Panel from the

Home Collection by Kathy Schmitz for Moda Fabrics.

For the background I chose this speckled
Creamy Rice Paper for the Home Collection

I used a half yard of This Fabric to complete the back of the quilt.

Photos do not do this fabric justice.

This color is so warm that it glows golden.

This fabric is not metallic,

though it almost looks it.

For my quilting thread I chose King Tut "Sahara Shadows"
which is a lovely variegated thread that is shades or brown to gold.
I have had this large spool for a few years and have used it on a few other projects.

For  quilting the center of the heart blocks,

I used freezer paper templates.

I cut one large one and stitched around it on all four heart blocks and then I cut it down three times to make the graduated hearts.

When using these templates I press them onto the fabric with a medium heat for a temporary hold.

My binding fabric is a half yard of this wonderful
Slate Column from the Home Collection

I stitch around the motif, 

not on the paper.

For the border I did straight line stitching with my 

walking foot.

I love this limited neutral palette.

which is far from my usual fabric choices.

I have a lot of jelly roll and am planning to make

a throw quilt to match my table runner .

I really enjoyed making this quilt.

I chose pumpkin fabrics that I can leave up on my wall long before and long after Jack-o-lantern day comes and goes.

Orange and green is a favorite of mine.

The folded quilt below it is a quilty treasure.

when I was having my first eye and uterine cancer surgery. 
Today I am cancer free.

It is a gray damp and chilly day here.

My bright and happy quilts chase the chill away.

and I have both of them.

I have all of them as I have been using them fro some time to make

 easy and accurate half square triangles.

I am thinking of making a fall fabric quilt and will be pulling fabrics from my stash.

Today was another productive day of sewing.  

I sewed my Day 44 ~ Block 44

I also now have 48 blocks for my hubby's batik quilt.

I have made 11 different block designs with these

Four cuts from my batik layer cake swap squares.

I am thinking to put up a post showing the specific cuts needed for these different squares

after I complete the top.

I may want to use this pattern again for a quick and easy layer cake quilt.

It has been another warm and humid day here.

I am hoping the air will get cooler and dryer again soon.

Looking forward to autumn.
