Rekindling My Kindship Fire ~ 2021

Maybe I should call this

Kinship Block # 1

My Kinship Journey Started Here in 2019

This is where my journey ended that year.

I made a block a day for 52 days and life happened and this project was laid aside

and I never caught up that year.

It has been packed away in my project box in my sewing closet.

Here are my first 50 Blocks

I had never determined my layout.

Hoping this will be the year I finish this quilt.

Since I am halfway there with the blocks,

maybe I can finish the quilt in 100 days.

I have everything I need, even my jar of small scraps.

I loved my fabric selection then and I love it now.

For now, I am just going to play with the fabric and

re-kindle this quilty fire.

"Peace Be The Journey"

May you and your have a safe and

Happy 4th of July Weekend.

Merrily I Sew Along ~ Making More Plans To Sew Along

I love this book!
I received it in the mail today because
I pre-ordered this book after seeing previews of it on

There is going to be a
TRIANGLES ON A ROLL SEW ALONG

It is about 5 minutes into the video replay.
▸ The sew along will start September 3rd, 2019. ▸ Supplies: 4” and 3” Triangles On A Roll paper,
two fat quarters,
five fat eighths,
and 4 yards of fabric for background fabric

and you need this book ...

You only need two Triangles on the Roll papers
and I have both of them.

I have all of them as I have been using them fro some time to make
easy and accurate half square triangles.

If I did not have them I would invest in this master set ...

I am thinking of making a fall fabric quilt and will be pulling fabrics from my stash.

Today was another productive day of sewing.

I sewed my Day 44 ~ Block 44
#100days100blocks2019

I also now have 48 blocks for my hubby's batik quilt.

I have made 11 different block designs with these

Four cuts from my batik layer cake swap squares.

I am thinking to put up a post showing the specific cuts needed for these different squares
after I complete the top.

I may want to use this pattern again for a quick and easy layer cake quilt.

It has been another warm and humid day here.
I am hoping the air will get cooler and dryer again soon.
Looking forward to autumn.

I Quilt Because It Makes Me Happy

Today I made ten more batik blocks using my

Layer Cake Cuts

These blocks are so bright and happy they make me smile.
I will leave them out on the table for my hubby to see
when he comes in from work late tonight.

I also made my block of the day.
Block 43 for the

When I get to the halfway mark of fifty blocks
I am going to put them up on my design wall
and see how my quilt is growing.

I saw this on Facebook and it made me smile.

I hope it makes you smile, too.

May you have sweet quilty dreams.
Goodnight ... :-)

Sunday ~ Funday

Sunday was another glorious day in my quilty corner
so I took my Day 42 Kinship Block outside for the daily photo.
#100days100blocks2019

It was a good day to get more work done in the yard.
We planted one more rose bush on the other side of our new garden gate
and some other gardening tasks.
It was a great day for grilling, too.

Inside Nutmeg and I made more blocks for our

Nutmeg enjoyed playing with and pressing the blocks.

With such good quilty kitty help,
I have 20 more batik blocks for a total of 36 blocks so far.
We need 80 blocks for the queen size quilt.
Almost halfway there!

I hope all of you and yours had a good weekend, too,
and are rested and ready to start a new work week.
I will not be working ... I will be playing with the pretty fabric.

Have a Sew Happy Week!

33 Blocks ~ 33 Days ~ 1/3 of the Way Home

One third of the blocks for this quilt are done!
I am still on track ... woo-hoo!

I am not always sew good about keeping on schedule.

Maybe it is the fun blocks,
Maybe it is the fun fabric.
I am really enjoying sewing this daily block for the

It was a lovely day here today.

Sunny and warm but breezy and no humidity.

My favorite summer weather.

I spent a lot of time in the yard today, trimming bushes and puttering around.

When I finally called it a night, the solar lanterns by my garden gate were lit.

Goodnight, All, Sweet Quilty Dreams!

Sew Far ~ Sew Good

All my July Blocks are done on time for the

I am sew happy about keeping up with this one sew far.
I am loving my fabrics and blocks.

These are my blocks Midway Through July

I need to set my blocks up on my temporary design wall soon
and see how my blocks look together.

I am loving each individual block.

I still have not decided on my setting.

The images that my quilty muse sends are a jumble of ideas.

It may be that I will have all the blocks done before I decide.

Time will tell ... :)

Merrily I Design Along

This is a "Design As I Sew" Quilt

My quilty muse knows where we are going.
I am just following along...
and doing all the cutting and sewing.

I am thinking that the unfinished block size for this quilt may be 9 inches.

This is for the

Block A

My first block measures 9.5", unfinished, right now.
The plan is to cut it down to 9" to accommodate other stack and cut pieces
to make a few different blocks that measure 8.5"
when sewn into the quilt.

Here is the cutting measurements for Block A

This is a layout for a baby size quilt with the 9.5" unfinished blocks.
The blocks are turned randomly to make a scrappy looking quilt.
With a 3.5" border this 4 rows by 5 columns quilt
would measure 44" by 53" with binding.

It would actually make a nice quilt for a baby using a nursery print
layer cake, 1 yard of fabric for the outer border
and 3/4 yard for the binding.
It could also make a cute I spy quilt with fussy cut prints in the 6.5" squares.

To make my block I chose three of the hub's chosen batik squares.

I aligned and pressed the stack with a dry iron.

Because these are hand cut swap squares,
they are not all a perfect 10" square,
I used my Perfect 10 Ruler to trim then all to the same size.
Any ruler will work, the idea is to stack, press, trim and square
to uniform 10" squares.

From the the trimmed 10" stack  I cut
One 3.5" by 10" rectangle on one side

Then I cut the large rectangle on the right into:
One 3.5" by 6.5" rectangle
and
One 6.5" square

Then I swapped the pieces to choose the three pieces for my block.

I set my machine to sew a scant 1/4" seam and sewed.

Then I pressed all my seams open.

Using a 9.5" square ruler, I trimmed my block to 9.5" for now
and saved the other cut pieces from the stack
to mix and match for future blocks.

I will be posting Block B and a layout for that block soon.

I also sewed my Kinship Sampler Block of the Day this morning.
