My idea of a yummy oatmeal cookie has dried cranberries, 

white chocolate chips and walnuts in them, 

so I would add red to my cookie fabric.

What would you add?

 I have not decided if I will sew along.

I have sew many projects.

I may have to bake Oatmeal Cookies this weekend, though.

I have always wanted to make a sea themed quilt like this

 and have started one at least twice.

Right now I am saving the steps.

I hope this will be the one a sew from start to finish.

Time will tell.

Rowing Along In 2020

Here is the start of my Sunflowers Row by Row Quilt.

I am sewing this as a new bed quilt with these beautiful ... 

 Clothworks Sunflowers fabrics from my stash.

This fabric line is circa 2012 and is out of print.

The yellow on the left is a Kaufmann Fusion tonal which is also out of print.

If you want this pattern,

download these free patterns now as they will be removed later to

make room for the newer rows as the years goes on.

As you can see, I am getting a late start,

but a new row is posted every other week so I have plenty of time to catch up soon.

I have more yardage than what is called for to make the quilt, 

but I want to make a larger quilt widthwise

so I am hoping to have enough

to finish the quilt.

These are all end of bolts bought when this fabric went into the clearance section

of my favorite local quilt shop.

I am saving the green and brown in the upper right for the binding. 

I am making this bed quilt to match this wall quilt,

which was made from a kit in 2012 ...

... and this table runner which I designed and made from the cutaways from the wall quilt. 

I am really enjoying sewing these pretty fabrics again

and am working on row 2.

is available for download at

Canadian Quilter's Association Row By Row 2020

"Rows:

The blocks themselves can be prints, solids or a combination.

 It is a great stash buster or a fun time to use up some unique prints.

Each row will be written up using the same 5 colours to demonstrate.

Fabric yardage for only these 5 colours is:

Border and sashing 1.5 yards (1.4 metres)

Fabric #1 and #2  – 2 yards each (1.8 metres)

Fabric #3, #4, #5 – 1 ¼ yards each (1.2 metres)

I LIke Thursday # 12 ~ The Creative Process

I like finishing a project.

Hanging my first quilted project from my new long arm
on my dining room "studio" wall fills my heart with joy.
This started as a panel purchased when I needed a little spring in the dark of winter.
I picked this one because I liked the soft colors and the light in the center
of this digitally printed flower design.
It was a seed in my stash, waiting to be nourished.

I like starting a new project. 

This one is a second version of the Block of the Week
sew-along happening at the
Canadian Quilters' Association 

I saw this new

Kindred Spirits @ Riley Blake Designs

and I knew I had to make a "Canadian" quilt with this.
Anne of Green Gables  is one of my favorite books.
Green gables was a place my imagination visited many times as a child.
I stared this quilt Here

Very often my creative ideas are inspired by places in my mind.



I like the middle of the project ...

even when I have my seam ripper in my hand I am creating.

"Un-Quilting" this quilting started here.
This quilt was started last summer but I got caught in the weeds
while I was trying to quilt it on my regular sewing machine
and it spent the winter half quilted and hidden in my quilt closet.
It was time to take out the seam ripper and continue the process
by taking out the failed quilting so this may be finished on my long arm.

The kitties are trying to help me along and keep me on track with this one ...

Maestro helps while Katniss supervises from the basket on the archway.

Nutmeg looks a bit concerned here and is questioning me about my slow stitch removal.
Katniss has moved closer to better supervise from the back of the chair.

Katniss decides it is time for a closer look.

Katniss has clearly decided that close supervision has become
necessary to this part of the de-stitching process.

I am working on it, kitties!

While I am working on it I am thinking about what to create next.

Thinking and visualizing is an important part of this process.

I like thinking about and studying the creative process.

So when I saw a "test" for
"my creative type"
I had to check it out.

It told me ...

Kindred Spirit Sewing

Looks like a mini Happy Block with a border twist.

Makes me happy ... :-) 

It is called "Peek A Boo" and is Block 16 of the 

Canadian Quilter's 52 Blocks in 52 Weeks

I have been sewing a  Scrappy Version of this quilt 

and will continue to make blocks for that one, too.

This is a new quilt start.

This Fat Quarter Bundle, panel and green print fabric just arrived today

to brighten my day.

I have been eyeing this fabric in the "Coming Soon" section at the

Kindred Spirit Fabric @ Fat Quarter Shop

This bright and happy collection is by

Jill Howarth for Riley Blake Designs

I also pulled an aqua dot from my stash as a possible background white. 

I fussy cut these pieces for this block.

I will be going back and making the first 15 blocks and continuing on

I will be sewing both versions of this quilt for the quiltalong.

Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorite books from my childhood.

I like the PBS production of this with  Ella Ballentine as Anne,

Martin Sheen as Matthew and Sara Botsford as Marilla. 

I am a traditionalist when it comes to screen versions of a beloved book.

Looking forward to sewing more blocks.

Saturday is Scrappy Happy Day

Although aqua month at the 

Rainbow Scrap Challenge @ So Scrappy

is coming to a close,

my scrap stash of aqua fabric is low.

Sew I did some retail therapy at my local quilt shop this week

and came home with this nifty stack of aqua fat quarters.

It was fun to search their shelves looking for aqua.

The third fabric up from the bottom is my idea of a true aqua.

Maestro was showing the aqua fabric love.

Looking forward to a new month of fabric color adventures.

The hubs and I are going to a nearby quilt guild show, the

Hannah Dustin Quilt Guild Show

This guild always has a nice show of quilts.

If you are in the area tomorrow, 

it is well worth a stop and see.

Good Day Sewing

It is raining now as I get ready to tuck in my sewing machine and turn off my computer.

It has felt damp and cool all day. 

My aches and pains are complaining,

but I had a good day of sewing.

It is supposed to be a warm weekend.

Hope to get out in the spring air.

My hubby has a long weekend

as it is Patriot's Day in Massachusetts on Monday, 

a day to celebrate life and freedom.

Scraps and Cats Saturday

I am all caught up on my scrappy blocks for

52 Blocks 52 Weeks @ Canadian Quilters

I really liked Block 9  with its twists and turns.

Block 10 was an easy cross block.

The kitties love Saturdays because both of their favorite humans are home.

Katniss spent most of the morning enjoying her bath in the sunny south facing window.

Too windy and cool to open the window so the little sisters left her in peace and quiet.

Tomorrow we may get to 60 F degrees. 

Little sisters will be crowding her favorite napping spot.

Maestro just curled up near me on my pressing board by my machine

and napped there.

Nutmeg, who only sits still when she is sleeping,

helped me arrange this weeks

Trinket Blocks

My machine is still grumbling and making me take her apart

to remove a speck of dust every few stitches.

Tomorrow I am going to have to put her in her box for the trip to the spa.

It will be a slow stitching day tomorrow

for sure.

Hope I can get my challenge blocks done.

Time will tell.
