A Lovely Finish For June

Helix Table Runner

My June project for A Lovely year of Finishes is done!

I am linking up with this month's finishing party at
AYOLF June @ Fiber of All Sorts

Earlier this month I posted this picture of the small

Helix Table Mat

in my  Mid-Month Progress report.

For the runner I decided to do emphasize the helix design
by stitching long continuous curves with my walking foot.
I used a paper template and started with the centers.

The I moved outward and followed the first line of stitching to the sides, including the narrow black border strips.
I used a variegated cotton thread in shades of blue/yellow/green.

Close up of quilting.
I added two small ellipses inside the centers of the first lines.

I did a self binding by folding the backing over to the front and using a  decorative stitch to secure it to the top.

My son was very happy with his birthday gift!

I am very happy to have my June goal done!

June Goal Quilting Progress

 Helix Table Mat

I have taken a short break from the purple wedding table quilts
to work on my June Goal for

The small table mat made with the extra block for the Helix Table Runner and Mat that is for my oldest son's birthday is done. This was my "practice" project, the one I always like to make to see how my thread, batting and quilting choices may work on the larger quilt. I like the blue/green/yellow variegated thread and I added a another layer of batting for the runner to make the quilting stand out a little better.  I am also changing up the quilting in the center for the runner.

I have added narrow black borders to the outside of the runner.

 Ready to Quilt!

June Goals

Helix Table Runner and Table Mat

My June Goal is to quilt, bind and deliver these table quilts
to my son as a birthday gift for the

My Button
A Lovely Year of Finishes
Linky Party

This table runner has been ready for quilting since last November.  I last blogged about it Here.  It is based on the free pattern that came with my new Quick Curve Ruler and started it right after I received it at the end of October.  It was what I was working on Here, when the lights went out with the arrival of Superstorm Sandy.

I spent the next week or so working on a Fall Table Topper hand sewing and quilting project.  Then I moved into My New Sewing Room and hung it up and then proceeded to get distracted by Christmas Projects and Winter Mystery Quilt Weekend and then in January I joined in my first blog hop at Sew We Quilt  with "In My Words" and have participated in all of these twice a month blog hops ever since.  I am taking a  break from the next one but will be back at the end of the month for ...

Sign Ups Still Open!

The other goal for me is to continue working on the Wedding Table Quilts for my daughter's reception. I need to take a short break from the purple and The Girl to quilt and celebrate with The Boy.

Sew  For June ...

(1) Quilt and bind and gift the The Boy's Birthday gifts
(2) Make seven more Love Blooms Flower Quilts for The Girl and Her Groom
(3) Put a "Stamp on It"

I have no other sewing and quilting goals for this month.

This will keep me very busy.

Just keep sewing!

:-)
