Walk In the Autumn Garden Quilt ~ Bloggers Quilt Festival Fall 2016

Here is my "Walk in the Autumn Garden" Quilt!

After a few days of rain and gloom I was able to take my

outside for a photo op.

It is still very wet but the sun came out today.

Fall is just starting to turn here after an usually dry summer
and what looks like will be a brief autumn.

This small quilt measures  28" square,
112" in circumference.

The top is made of four 12" finished blocks and a 2" border

As always, Katniss, the Quilty Kitty, was very helpful in the making of this quilt.

This block is my

"Granny Garden" pieced designer block for the

and is available

This block is easy piecing with a 25 patch center
which could be strip pieced.

The corner triangles are made by cutting two
Disappearing 9 Patch Blocks in half.

I was going for an autumn scattered leaves and end of flower garden look.

I am really happy with this quilt.

I used freezer paper to cut oak leaf motifs for quilting templates
and also did my favorite straight line quilting.

Here is a closeup of the quilting on the back of the quilt.

I did my first ever

I will definitely use this binding technique again.

Here is the back of the quilt.
I cut this from an Autumn Woods border print panel.

I am adding this quilt to the

Original Design Quilts Category

Bloggers Quilt Festival Fall 1016

just for fun.

As I always enjoy all the beautiful quilty inspiration in the links.

Ghosts & Ghouls & Fabric ... Oh My!

Halloween is coming!

So are the Ghosts & Ghouls!

I am quilting my Autumn Woods quilt

I used some of these colorful fabrics for the

This year they are for ...

Ghosts & Ghouls Free Pattern

The Red Boot Quilt Company

This pattern is sew fun!

I went on a fabric acquistion outing to my local quilt shop and added these

... bright and black fabrics to the stash.

I am really looking forward to sewing this one
and two of my stitchin' sisters may be sewing along with me
Hope to have lots of pictures soon.

Today, though, I have to go see my eye surgeon and have him look into my eyes.
My eyes have been getting very bleary and tired very quickly this summer.
Best to have them checked out.

Happy Quilting!

Back To Nothing But The Scraps

Today's 6.5" Postage Stamp block
made with thirty-six 1.5" squares.

I started these blocks Here in January.

Colors this month are rose red and gold.

I am using my smallest scraps for these blocks.

I make pairs of these small squares as leaders and enders
and sew them into blocks on Saturdays
when I am home and have time to sew.

I am a few months behind,
but I never thought I would have enough
6.5" blocks to make a quilt this year anyway.

Many,  many more blocks to make.

It is not the destination,
it's the journey.

This is a Scrappy Sojourn

Christmas Shimmer Photo Op

It is sunny and breezy here today,
so I took my

outside for a photo shoot
in hope of getting better pictures
for the ...

Best I could do.

My limited camera ability just does not do these fabrics justice.

I have found some striped Christmas fabric in my stash closet for a backing
and plan to quilt this one soon.

I love this quilt!

On My Cutting Table Today

I love this fabric!

I love anything by Kate & Birdie

The colors are so soft and print perfect.

This fabric has been in my stash two years.

I picked it out at that time with a gift certificate I won
in a blog hop giveaway.

I posted Here when it arrived.

Then, sadly, it got set aside and I tucked in my stash closet.

Joining A Blog Hop:101

I have had another comment question from a "no-reply blogger."

This time is was on  This Blog Post about joining the blog hopping fun.

So ...

Here is ...

Joining a Blog Hop: 101

Step 1:

You need to have an email address so attached to your comments,
so other bloggers, like the blog hop host,
can reply to your comments.

If you use google (and the person who left the comment has a google plus profile)

where Bonnie Hunter @ Quiltville explains how to fix it.

Step 2:

Read all the info about the blog hop you are interested in joining:

For the Eerie Nights Blog Hop ...

Marian has a basic post explaining

Marian is a wonderfully helpful, encouraging organizer of blog hops.

She wants you to join and she wants everyone to have fun.

If you have any questions about her blog, her blog hops, her patterns, etc.

Step 3:

Have a good idea for the project you want to make
to show and tell in the blog hop.

Be realistic and plan a project that fits your schedule and other obligations.

Be Creative!

A blog hop is a great motivator to challenge you to think and sew outside your usual box.

 Have Fun!

Sewing is my happy place and I am sure it is yours, too.

Step 4:

Meet your deadline.

Your blog host will work with you as to what day in the hop works best for you.

If you agreed to post on your assigned day,
show up and be counted,
even if you did not finish your project.

All of us have been there and will support you.

Make sure you have links to all the other bloggers on your day,
so they have fun, too!

If life happens and you have to drop out,
contact the blog host asap and tell her the truth about what is going on.
Blog Hosts are very understanding of real life,
they have one, too.

Step 5:

Visit the other bogs on your day and as many in the hop as your schedule allows
and leave a kind word.

You will make many blogging friends this way.

Step 6:

Have Fun!

I know I said this already,
but this is the what blog hops are all about.

Hope this gets you blog hopping with us!

If you have any questions,
I will try to help.

An Open Letter To A Reader

Army Star Paper Pieced Block

Dear Reader:

Please email me ...

I would be happy to send you the pattern,

:) Pat

In explanation:

One of my readers left a comment yesterday on

asking if she could purchase this block pattern
to make quilts for veterans in her family.

Unfortunately, she is a "no reply" comment.

I have no way to contact her.

I do not want her to think I do not care,
so I am writing this post.

This paper pieced block was designed by a very talented quilt friend,  Denise Gies.
Denise has given permission to me to share this block for free
to my readers for their personal use
and asks only that she retain rights to the design
and that no one ever use the pattern for profit.

Denise also designed this quilt and organized
the group effort to make it for my SIL.

Thanks, Denise!

To all of you who are a "no-reply" google plus comment,
blogger or not,
it is and easy fix ...

Hope this helps!
