Hello ... Fabric Calling

This fabric called me.

It is from

Alison Glass

The print on the right is out of print.
It said, "You must answer my call before I am gone forever.
Call me home."

This is the fabric on the left unfolded.

It is called "Plume" and it is handcrafted.

I very rarely impulse buy.

This was clearly an impulse purchase and I know it was a good one.

Nonetheless ...

I have no idea what this fabric is for!

??????

I have this fabric where I can see it and hear it speak.

So far it has been sitting is beautiful silence.

~ ~ ~

On a more mundane note,
the frozen scrapatch thawed in a huge torrent of rain yesterday.

There was also so snow, ice and fog ... and wind ...

the temperature rose over 50 degrees in a few hours ...

and the bedroom ceiling got a big wet spot directly over the bed just before bed ...

not my idea of a good way to end a long and otherwise draining day.

An excursion into the attic found no flood.

The wet spot is a mystery,
although it may have been water blown in up under the eaves.
It was very windy.
The wet spot was in the middle of the room though.
Hmmm.

Anyway, now it is dry.

And colder.

Weather that will not make up it's mind.

Much like mine

I can go back to sewing ...

and contemplating this beautiful and mysterious fabric.

Do you hear this fabric speaking?

If so, please give me a clue what it is saying ... :)

A Quilty Mother's Day

 Hello!

I hope all the mothers, grandmothers, mothers-to-be and all the women who add their irreplaceable gifts to our world had as lovely a day yesterday as I did.

Among the beautiful gifts from my kiddos were there beautiful tulips.
My Matty usually gives me pink tulips.
He also gave one of these bouquets to his sister.
My Matty is very sweet.
So is my Jon who arrived early yesterday morning bearing goodies and he and his brother made a yummy breakfast for all of us.
My Boys are quite handy in the kitchen.  Jon is actually a very good cook.
Late in the day, my hubby turned on the grill.
My day was delicious.

Sorry that I have not been posting.

I have been getting "are you okay?"  emails.

I am well.

Thanks for thinking of me. my friends.

My day included a fun trip to my favorite local quilt shop,
where the Liz gifted all the mothers who walked through the door with their choice of a free charm pack.  There was also a 25% storewide sale and fat quarters were only $1.50 each.
Lucky me, I had a gift cerifictae from the kiddos and purchased these quilty goodies.
2 yards of the gray background print, 10 fat quarters, a second charm pack of

and two rulers that I have been wanting for some time, a

and a

I like to buy rulers with gift certificates.

That way, every time I use the ruler I smile and think of the lovely person who gave me this quilty tool.

There were also these beautiful roses from my wonderful hubby.

This cute photo album was a gift from my daughter and son-in-law.

It is waiting for photos.

We are still waiting for Sprout's Big Day.

I have been spending days with My Girl helping where I can.

The Sprout is keeping us waiting and is now a week overdue.

Maybe today will be the day! ... or maybe tomorrow!

May you have a happy day!

Be back soon!

:)

Pick-Your-Own Fabric

An Apple Pie Penny Patch Quilt!

I have been picking fabrics in the scrapatch today!

I am participating in the

Penny Patch Quilt-Along

@

Although I like to think I know a little bit about quilting,
I know have sew much more to learn.
In today's  Color Scheme Ideas installment
I feel like I have already learned some valuable
new tips for picking colors and fabrics.

My A&B Colors ~ Red and Green (Apples!)
My C  Color ~ Yellow (Sunshine!)
2 Medium Brown ~  (Piecrust!)

Here are my red and green and yellow fat quarters
with some of my low volume fabrics.
This is a very eclectic assortment of fabrics.
In addition to apple prints from three different lines,
there are classic Thimbleberries, a Kate Spain modern geometric,
two prim type sheep prints, some squiggly sewing theme scrips,
a Riley Blake print, and a some other random stash fabrics.
I have added a touch of black for a bit more contrast ...

Butterfly helped by adding the black and white to this quilt ... ;)

My low volume neutrals are grayish green and tan.

I  picked through my stash ...   added and subtracted ...
arranged and rearranged ... switched fabrics in and out ...

This is what I have right now ... I like!

When I have finalized my choices I will cut fat quarters
from the yardage so I start with the 30 FQs called for to
make the twin size quilt.

Mmmmmmm ... I love apple pie!
(I just may have to bake an apple pie now.)

Hope you are having a fun day in your fabric patch, too.

Tomorrow I am planning to enjoy the quilts at a nearby quilt guild show from the Tewksbury Piecemakers.
These quilters always put on a good show.

May you have a happy quilty weekend, too!

A New Mystery!

It is the Fall Mystery Weekend
@

Pattern available Here

As usual I am trying to decide on fabrics.

Color Choice 1
Aqua/Yellow/Gray

These aqua/yellow/gray fabrics are all from Hobby Lobby and are recent fabric acquisitions.  My Hubby and I just returned from a spontaneous road trip.  There is now a Hobby Lobby about forty-five minutes from me, but it does not seem to be as well stocked in the fabric and sewing sections as others that I have seen elsewhere. These were purchased in PA. I have found the quality and price of their fabrics to be very good.

They were not bought for this mystery, but when I returned home and caught up on my emails there was the one with the fabric requirements calling for six fabrics.  It seems fortuitous.

Color Choice 2
Orange/Yellow/Gray

Also waiting for me when I returned home was a lovely birthday gifty from my dear friend, Dorian @ Ridge Top Quilts that had these two lovely orange Flea Market Fancy prints, my favorites from this famous line.  These are my first fabrics ever for this wonderful fabric line which I have been drooling over for a long time.  I pulled a yellow and red from my stash and rounded out the six fabrics needed with the new grays.

Color Choice 3
Fall Fabrics

These fabrics are all from my stash and ready to cut.

My new fabrics are swishing in the washer, so I have some time to decide.

:)  Opinions and advise always valued and appreciated.  :)

TIA!

Last Wednesday I found a coupon code for
30% off feature at Quilting Gallery for one week

This offer is still good until Wednesday
Have fun fabric shopping!

Yesterday my hubby and I enjoyed the World Quilt Show New England
where I acquired this ...

and Lil Twister Ruler from CS Designs.

Although I have thought about it, I have never felt really inspired to make a twister quilt. The patterns in this book have finally made me decide to add this to The List.

Today I am going for my annual mammogram screening so I will not be back in my sewing room until this evening.

I am still working on my hexie project for the

   This hop starts tomorrow!

Looking forward to all the hexie happenings!
