A Baby Sister Quilt Start ... and Katniss finds a Box!

These are the scrap squares that I had left from

 My Girl + XO Quilt

Yesterday I was trying to work on my next Stitchin's Sister RR border.

I was not sew productive.

My quilty muse is not happy with the fabrics I have gathered.

I am going to have to give this more thought ...

maybe find more fabrics in my stash ..

or something.

I do not know what yet.

My quilty muse is being very quiet on this project.

So today I am starting a new project while my quilty muse muses.

... so ...

Remember this quilt? 

I made this quilt for a little girl who loves pink.

Now she has a new baby sister!

So this pretty pink quilt needs a baby sister quilt 

to welcome this new baby to our world 

in the room she shares with her big sister.

So I pulled out my overflowing pink scrap drawer ...

Katniss helped.

Then ...

Katniss found a Katniss Sized Box!

This is the box in which I received the strings in this post,

While Katniss enjoys her box,

I am stitching.

This will be a quick quilt.

I have a new charm quilt idea! 

My quilty muse and I are really excited about this plan.

Turtle Cat loves to play!
Katniss will stay under this table topper a long time and she swirls around  after my fingers and the table topper turns with her.  She has even been known to jump off the table and  carry it along the floor on her back.

This is Katniss's favorite table topper.

I made this a long time ago as an 

"Ugly Fat Quarter Challenge" Project.

I did not think this fabric was very ugly.

Of course, I have said that I never met a fabric that I didn't like ... ;)

I also made a tea cozy.

Random 5 and Feline Friday

1) A cat on a leash.

Does not get much more random than that!

 

2) This is Katniss.

Last summer we adopted Katniss at 2 and 1/2 last years old from a shelter where she was taken in as a stray and got her name, but they and no idea what her previous life was like.  She appeared to have a bad leg and has an unusual gate for a cat, so I thought she might have been hit by a car at one time, but she might also have been kept in a cage and just never learned to run and jump.  Katniss is not very street smart and  does not seem to understand about cars. She learned to jump from our older cat which she watches and imitates constantly.  Now very active, she loves to run and jump around the house. Every time we take her out on her leash, she acts like she has never seen any of this before.  It is fun to watch.

 Katniss is now an indoor cat that

we will only take out on a leash.

She is a very happy cat.

3) Spring is arriving at last in my corner of New England.

Like the one in this picture,

the tulips outside in my quilty corner are just budding.

 

4) Our first tulip of spring!

 Now blooming inside in a pot in the corner of my enclosed front porch.

Oh, Christmas Tree!

 

Today was our family tree gathering and decorating.  It is a beauty!  Katniss is enjoying a nap in one of her favorite chairs which is now covered with a Christmas quilt that I made a few years ago.  The chair is near the tree and in front of a warm radiator.  Katniss, as a former homeless and shelter rescue kitty,  knows and appreciates a good thing.
