My Favorite Quilt Block ~ My Day!

My Favorite Block is now My Favorite Pillow!

No surprise.

My favorite quilt block is the one in my blog button.
and the image that appears when I leave a comment on your blogger.

It is

This has been a favorite for many years.

I chose this block for my first Round Robin Center Block in 2009.

taken soon after it came home.
I did not start my blog until the end of 2009
so I do not have many photos of the original block and the borders.

Ten years later, this is still a UFO.
I really need to dig this top out of my closet
and move it up the quilting queue
and get it quilted.
I think I wanted to add a plain border of the white flowers on green
that is on the corners of my center block.
I hope I stashed this fabric away with the top.
Time will tell.

For this hop I sewed a new version on this block in some of my favorite fabrics.

This Spring Posies block pattern requires sewing a partial seam for the center.

This is easy to do.
All you need to do is start your first seam part way along the seam line
leaving a small flap open
This partial seam will be closed when you sew on the last side of the center.

Here is what sewing the fourth side on looks like on the sewing machine.
You can see the open flap at the top as I start the sewing on the fourth section.
which is aligned to top edge.

Then I closed the open seam on the first section.

Here are good instructions for sewing partial seams for the Bright Hope Block
From The Spruce Crafts

For my newest version of this block, I used fabrics from my much loved stash of

Prairie Fabrics by Corey Yoder

I am intending this quilt to be a companion to the quilt along quilt
I plan to start later this month ...

My Sunday Best Sampler Quilt Along Plans Here

Here is the back of my new pillow.

I used two fabrics from my stash of prairie fabrics and my snap pliers.
I love to add these plastic snaps to secure the closure on
the  envelope back for my pillows.
The Babyville Boutique snap pliers and snaps, made by Dritz,
makes this closure very easy to do.

To make this into an 18" pillow, I added
3" strips of my white print background fabric
to the sides of my Spring Posies Block.
Then I added four more triangle  corners of the lovely gray flower print.

Then I put a piece of cotton batting on the back of my pillow top
and added straight line quilting Here

Then I sandwiched my front and back and finished my pillow
by binding with my favorite Two Color Flanged Machine Binding

I Like Thursday Post # 27 ~ Fall in New England

Good Thursday Morning!

I am late this morning for my Thursday fun with the

I was up late last night sewing together the rows for my

The colors are actually much warmer.
It has been gray here and today is a rainy day here and not a great day for photos

My garden has been happy, though.
My coral rose is still blooming.
This is a favorite.

One of the new climbing roses has started to bloom, too.
This one is an open single rose, dark pink with a yellow orange center.
I planted it to supplement an older rose that has been struggling this year
and dropped most of its leaves in the heat.
I am hoping the two will live harmoniously together.

My other new roses are not blooming but they are growing long runners
that are reaching up my trellis and gate.

Over the weekend my hubby sealed our driveway
so it looks black and renewed.
It became a neighborhood work day.
My hubby bought the stuff and helped our neighbor up the street who
had her driveway paved last year at the same time as ours.
A man diagonally across the street who is a landscaper for the city and has
experience maintaining his own driveway came over to help.
No photos.  I did not want to interrupt the work by putting a camera in everyone's faces.
It was a perfect day for it, dry and breezy after the hurricane swept by out to sea.

My hubby surprised me with this new coffee mug yesterday.
I love it.
Pumpkin season here in New England.
Apples and corn and summer harvest, too.
My favorite time of the year.

My purple aster perennial is starting to bloom.

My purple clematis is putting out its few last blooms.

I am enjoying this lovely

My day to show my project is tomorrow!

It is a Happy Thursday.

I hope you are enjoying your day, too.

On My Sewing Table Today

I am sewing the rows together for my

I am making this Quilt For My Guy and he chose the fabrics and block idea.

He has bee very patient while I put this aside to work on a few other commitments.

I have half of the top together and hope to finish it tonight
and get it onto my long arm soon.

Have a happy, quilty day!

I Am Sew Happy!

These wonderfully easy to sew Log Cabin Block papers are now available!

I actually requested they make this product
I love that Fat Quarter Shop listens to their customers.
I hope this is a very successful product for them
because I want them to make more  of these foundation papers.

I loved making the blocks for the

with the easy "sew by number" papers.

I am sew looking forward to making an easy scrappy log cabin quilt with the new papers!

I know just what I want to make, a queen size Log Cabin Star Quilt
of red, yellow, aqua, orange, gray with white prints as background
with the scraps of my  Corey Yoder fabrics.

The lines are sew easy for me to see with my impaired vision
and my blocks are perfectly squared.
Oh, happy sewing day!

September is My Month

These pretty kitty blocks from my Me and My Kitty Quilty Friends
are arriving for my birthday month.

I am looking forward to making a comfy lap quilt with them.
I think I will put a cuddle fabric on the back.

My kitties and I will love cuddling under it.

A Happy Quilty Saturday

Today was a bright and happy and quilty day.

I am doing one of my favorite quilty things here ...
straight line quilting on my Janome on a small project.

I am loving these colorful fabrics.
This is Prairie by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics.
This is an older one of her lines and may be my favorite,
although Sundrops is right up there, too.

I will be showing you more of this project very soon.

My boys came to see me today and we went out to eat.
Always a treat to see my boys.

I hope you had  happy and quilty day, too!

I Like Thursday Post # 26 ~ I Like Finishes

A Quilty Finish always makes me happy and this one is so pretty
I am over the moon and the garden gate about it.

Our Garden Gate Project Started Here is finished, too.
My hubby moved the old stepping stone blocks so they are centered and
added some pea gravel to the gate area.
The roses I planted on either side are growing.
The one on the left has reached the upright and is starting to climb
up the arch toward the sun.

Our summer flowers are still blooming
and we are enjoying the fruits of our labor.

My life is filled with color and light and beauty and love.

The new Hydrangea Tree That Arrived Here
which we planted in the front yard is flourishing, too.
Its white blossoms are turning a deep dusky pink color.

I am thankful just to sit and enjoy all this beauty in my life.

It is a good day to visit with my
