The last time I worked on my 30's fabrics Patchwork of the Crosses EPP blocks was 

Here in August 2017

When Maestro was a baby kitty who had just come home with us.

Awww ... she is so cute.

Hmmm ... I changed the final layout today.
I like the block I made.

I started this project almost two years ago



Here is Block 1 of my 30's POTC

Today I decided to pull these blocks out and see what I had done

Nutmeg helped.

Awww ... she is so cute.

When I last worked on these blocks,
poor baby Nutmeg was not in the picture
because she was still somewhere in a shelter in Carolina.

Nutmeg also helped me explore and lay out some of the blocks I had made.
I was obsessed with sewing these blocks for six months.
I got very little other sewing done.

We found there were 15 blocks and 3 connecting units.

I think it was the connecting units that may have cooled my obsession
about making these blocks.

I really enjoy the creative element of choosing
and fussy cutting
and laying out the cross blocks.

The connecting units ... not so much.

If I want a quilt, though, I have to sew the other units.

 I need to even this score.

So I will slowly sew the small connecting units.
Then there are corner units.
Sew them, too.

16 blocks could make a 4 by 4 wall quilt.

I can do that!

It's a Small World Afterall

I am back!

Katniss is happy to have me back in my quilty corner.

We had a wonderful California Adventure.

Then we met up with my daughter, Marissa, SIL Matt and Granddarling Everly

at Disneyland for their Super Hero Half Marathon Weekend.

We had a fun time with Minnie ...

 ... riding the teacups with my Main Matt

... spinning in the tractors in Carsland

... exploring

... sharing a Dole Whip with My Girl.

... dancing with the Cars.

... spending a lot of time in Carsland ...

... eating lots goodies ...

... lunching with the Princesses.

... enjoying our special dessert at Ariel's Grotto.

... riding the Racers

... tasting the special goodies in the Festival of Holidays foods.

... dancing  with the DJ in Radiator Springs.

... seeing all the Christmas lights

... playing in the snow on Main Street!

There was even a quilty get together ...

it happened that my online friend Anne

who I met in our 30's POTC BOM Group

was at Disneyland with her girls for the Disney Race Weekend, too!

Anne gifted me with this adorable fussy cut

that she made for me.

Time to  get back to sewing!

Back to POTC Stitching

I am back to slow stitching my POTC blocks!

I took a break this summer to garden and vacation, play with my new baby kitty 

 and just enjoy the great outdoors. 

I only completed a few blocks. 

I need to take photos and count how many I have done. 

This is the block I am working on now which is one I laid out from 

fabric in my stash at the beginning of summer.

It is slow going as I am only working on this block when my machine is not whirling away.

I have sew many projects I want to sew.

Maestro is sew very helpful ... ;)

This little baby kitty follows me around and constantly cuddles up 

like I am her new momma kitty.

So cute!

for my 30's POTC BOM  have arrived!'

Just in time for me to pack them as I am heading west to visit

my grand-darling!

This hand work shall keep me busy while traveling and during quiet times.

Be back at the end of June.

30's POTC Block 14

 POTC Block 14 done!

After several days of lovely sunshine,

it has been cool and rainy here today.

A good day to stay in and sew.

I tired a new piecing method that a friend shared online for this block.

My friend likes to sew the corners into "wings" and then sew them to the center.

This method did not feel comfortable to me.

The block felt too large and awkward when I was sewing the corners on.

I also had to set more "anchors" at the intersecting points to keep the pieces aligned.

Back to the method that is fast becoming "tried and true" for me ...

I usually sew the center,
then add the next four.
then sew the pairs,
then sew the pairs around the center,
as I did in this earlier block.

I think that everyone who sews these blocks must find a method and a rhythm

that works best for them.

I do like to try new ideas though.

Do you have a preferred way of sewing these blocks?

I love to try new things.

Katniss helped and checked my work.

I think Katniss would rather have been outside sewing again today, though.

Maybe tomorrow, Katniss.

We have to make some more connecting units and start the corner units.

This is layout choice D in the previous post,
which was the most popular pick.

Three of these are kit fabrics,

although the plaid was in another block kit.

The lambs are from my 10" squares stash.

Time for more slow stitching this weekend.

12 Patchwork of the Crosses Blocks Done!

Block 12 for my 30's POTC BOM done!

Time to go play with the fabrics to layout a new block.

I am trying to layout the blocks one at a time as I go along now,

so I do not have too many blocks laid out ahead of me.

Since they both have the fussy cut lamb fabric,
this a  "companion block" for ...

Block 6

So,  I am leaning toward

Layout C

as it is the most different.

I think I like Layout D the best.

Hmmmmm ...

Decisions ... decisions.

I am always interested in reader's opinions though.

 I learn a lot about design that way .
