10 Quilts ~ 10 Days ~ Day 6 ~ My Airmail Envelope Quilt

This quilt was a gift and I posted it

Quilt Blogger's Festival 2015 ~ Here

The fabric inspired this block design.

It is an easy block to cut and piece.

I designed this block and quilt with fabrics provided to me by

Bear Creek Quilting Company

and they posted the free tutorials on their blog.

All of the parts of this tutorial may be found on the

I also made a pillow with two extra blocks.

The links for this pattern and alternate colorways and layouts
lives on my right sidebar and in the link below:

This quilt was gifted to a this adorable baby boy who is now 8 years old.
The last time I spoke with his mom, she said he still loved his quilt.

Someday I hope to make another quilt in this pattern.

If your ever make a sew this block, I would love to see it.

Happy Sewing!

I bought these cute and contemporary fabrics ...

The swirly "Fishy Shoals" are my favorite from this line and I have used the gray for the envelopes, the multi-color on white for the background and the aqua in the narrow inner border (which is a design addition to the original pattern) and for the binding in the above quilt layout.

I used the beautiful dark "Sealife" on navy for the wide outer border.

I bought these fabrics ... it was love at first sight ... with a different quilt image in my head
but the more I look at this layout, the more I want to sew it.
A cute little baby boy I know has a nautical themed nursery and he needs a quilt ... ;)

Six Kona Solid Fabrics Envelope Quilt Layout 2

*Note: Since I have not actually sewn these two quilts the fabric requirements are copied from my EQ6 design software,  I have added 1/8 to 1/4 yard to all the computer generated amounts so that you should have extra fabric built in for errors and have a few lovely leftovers for scrap projects. Please always follow your own best judgement when cutting and sewing.

For all other cutting and sewing instructions please refer to this

If you have any questions about these instructions, please email me.
My email address may be found under "Contact Me" in my header.

Airmail Envelope Quilt Part 3 is up ~ and More Envelope Block Fun!

Airmail Envelope Quilt Tutorial

and a generous

I love making these blocks ...

sew I made a few more!

For my complete

When I was designing this block,

I made this test block.

Then I asked a few of my helpful stitchin' sisters to test
the cutting and piecing instructions for me.

This is the block that my friend Cherie made.

She was making blocks 12 inch blocks to bring to a guild event
so she sewed three more blocks and created this wonderful...

12.5" unfinished block

Thanks, Cherie!   I love this block!

So for my post today I decided to make up some more variations for a 12 inch block.

Sew I sewed four 6.5" envelope blocks

and came up with FOUR possibilities for a 12" finished block:

Block 1 : "Cherie's Inbox"

Block 2 : Mail Drop

Block 3 : Mail-a-Go-Round

Block 4 : Outbox

Which shall I choose to make a pillow?

1 ? ... 2 ?? ... 3 ???... 4 ????

Please help me decide .... :)
