I am a Quilt Book Bibliophile

This the book I have dusted off for the

It was published in 1999.
I have no idea how long it has been on my shelf,
but I cannot recall ever sewing a pattern from this book.

Like many of my quilt books I found it on
a white elephant table at a quilt show
for a fraction of its original cost.

I love quilt books!

I usually have a stack near me and I browse and read
all the time for ideas and just for fun.

Do you love quilt books?

Then you would love this book!

This book is a gem,
packed with 42 colorful projects and some basic quilt information
on only 175 pages.

I am down to choosing between three projects.

The blog hop is only a month away
and I need to make a choice and get sewing.

While I am pondering my final choice I am perusing my favorite quilting sites.

Wicked Good Quilty Fun!

NiteLite
Glow-in-the-dark Thread

I am having wicked good fun quilting my wicked project for the

This thread has come to me courtesy of my wicked good
favorite local quilt shop,

which is also an online shop.
Click on the link above to visit.

When I stopped by recently to look for glow-in-the-dark thread to add the perfect quilting touch to my project for the Wicked blog hop, they were temporarily sold out of these spools for sale.  Liz, the owner, is so nice that she let me "borrow" this used spool from her long arm supplies.  It is wonderful to have this as my local quilt shop. They have great weekly sales.  Check out their weekly newsletter Here.

I will be returning what is left on Monday as I am putting the finishing stitches in my project.
I am scheduled to post on the first day of the hop!
There are so many wicked awesome quilters in this hop
that it is sure to be spooktacular!

The sign ups are now open for a new hop at

It is  "For the Boys"

The cheerleader for this hop is
Amy @ Sew Incredibly Crazy !
That is sew incredibly awesome!

I think this is a wonderful idea for a blog hop and wish I could participate.
I have two weeks left before my scheduled eye surgery and I may try to get a project together before then for this hop. Wish me luck!

The Pumpkin Scrapatch

Kitty in the Pumpkin Patch

My tuxedo kitty, Butterfly, looks like a black cat from the back,
so this is her quilt.

It is a wall hanging so she does not get to curl up on it much, but
she always finds it and gets as close as she can.

I love everything about fall ... the colors ... the leaves ... the crisp apples on the trees ... the pumpkin patches ... the scarecrows and cornstalks ... fall mums ... corn mazes ... and, of course, Fall Quilts!

Sew I was very happy to find this fun fall themed blog hop today!

Sunshine in the attic

There are some great tutorials in the links and some fun giveaways.
It is the last day so blog hop to it so you do not miss out!

I am not participating in this hop, just enjoying the show
and planning future projects.
I make at least one quilt for fall every year to make my home
cozy and quilty for the cooler weather.

These are some of my older quilts.

This is also one of my first fall quilts.

The center is a panel.
The border was my first attempt at flying geese.

I quilted this on my old Brother machine and it was one of my early home quilting efforts.I added a little extra batting under the pumpkins to make them a rounded.

I made this quilt last year and blogged about it Here

I made freezer paper quilt stencils to quilt this one.
Tutorial on how I made the freezer paper templates
and quilted it may be found Here

Here is a close up of the quilting.

Here is a sneak peek at this years' quilt ...

Saying "I Do" with Flowers by Scrapatches

A Love Blooms
Flowers by Scrapatches

This flower shaped quilt is my original design.

When I read about the

"Say it with Flowers" Blog Hop

from the lovely Madame Samm @ Sew We Quilt

I already knew what I wanted to make.

My Daughter is getting married and asked me to be "The Quilter"
for this event and make custom quilts for her reception tables.
I will be making eight of the ones above,
and two smaller ones,
and a special one for the Bride and Groom's Sweetheart Table.
Her wedding color is royal purple and she chose the fabrics ...

The Bride's Choice

This wedding table quilt measures 33 inches across.

For more pictures and the Tutorial
how I made this flower shaped Love Blooms Quilt
please click Here

The detail of the quilting on the back.

I will be adding a label in the center
with the names and wedding dates.
My daughter plans to give these to her new Mother-In-law
and Grandmother-In Law and her Bridesmaids.

My Second Flower Project

I did have to experiment with the design and when it came time to quilt
I finished this smaller quilt for her Guestbook Table first to try some of the quilting techniques, which includes a decorative stitch programmed into my machine ...

Hexagon Flower Quilt

For the Guestbook Table
We have a very special idea for the guestbook.
We are pressing the white daisy fabric in the center of the flower to freezer paper and cutting 6 inch squares
and we are going to provide fabric pens for the guest to
write their wedding wishes
so that they may be later sewed together into the backing
for her wedding quilt.

This table quilt measures 24 inches across point to point.

For the pictures and Tutorial for this
please click Here

Many more quilts to make!

Must keep sewing!

During my breaks from work I will be enjoying all the
flowering projects in this big beautiful blog hop garden.
