The day 12 block for

The Neighborhood SAL @ Crabapple Hill Studio

was simple and easy and fun. 

Now I have five blocks done and all the ones to date are sketched.

Auditioning Finishing Fabrics Plan B

I pulled out some more fabrics from my stash to see what might be best for a quilt made with these blocks and think this is the winner!

These fabrics are 

Bluebird on Roses by Elea Lutz

The colors and small prints and florals are perfect

 with the embroidery threads that I have used so far. 

I found a charm pack, a jelly roll and a half yard of the red focus print.

Since I am only planning a small quilt this should be more than enough.

However, I think I have more of these fabrics with which I started a project,

which needs to be found.  Not today though.

Finishing Fabrics Plan A 

This was my first thoughts on fabrics to make a quilt with these blocks.

Which would you choose? 

A or B?

I am going to try to get another couple of blocks done today.

It is over 50 degrees F outside in the scrapatch today.

I opened two of the back windows for awhile.

We will have to close them up tight tonight as the forecast is for temperatures to drop over 30 degrees.

One Pattern ~ Two Quilts

I seem to be sewing my quilts in pairs this year.

For the

Two Color Quilt Along @ Fat Quarter Shop

I loved the denim blue sample quilt so I bought the 

Denim Two Color Quilt Kit

I rarely buy kits.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the cutting instructions

for all the weeks were included in the kit,

so I may be sewing ahead of schedule for once.

I already had the 

Vintage Christmas Book

which is needed to make this quilt.

It is nice that the book includes projects that are not seasonal.

There are several such projects in the book.

I recently started using these 

Alphabitties

to organize my cut pieces.

I really like this method.

Maestro likes them, too.

They are very helpful.

I used to use sticky notes that I wrote myself.

These are quicker and easier

and can be used over and over.

I followed all the easy to follow instructions in the book,

except when I saw those words ... "draw lines."

I like to cut these corners.

No lines, no waiting is my motto.

This is the two color denim blue kit block.

These are my block fabrics for the second quilt.

The white print is the background.

I will use the yellow and blue prints in each of the blocks.

This lovely focus floral will appear in my second quilt, too.

These quilts are going to be "His and Hers" sofa quilts.

The Denim Blue one is for my blue loving hubby.

The blue and yellow floral one is for me.

We are bookends ... :-)

Scrap Happy Saturday @ So Scrappy

Aqua is one of my favorite colors.

So I pulled out some of my aqua scraps

and sewed this week's block for

Not scrappy, but the aqua background is the perfect shade

 in this focus fabric for

Bluebirds on Roses ~ Penny Rose for Riley Blake

This is one of my favorite new fabrics finds.

I am sewing this weekend.

I am not sure the charm pack is in the quilt,

but I love charm packs.

Yes ... I am starting another new project.

I am quilt quazy.

I am also going out for breakfast with My Boys!
