Fabrics N Quilts Giveaway!

Here is my newest project ~
a new cover for Butterfly's favorite pillow!

For this project I started at the big beautiful new website at

I am loving there new look and all the new features ...

  • FREE US shipping-all day, every day, no minimum, no limit, no coupon  ~ PLUS great international rates, including first pound to Canada is free (which would include an order of up to 2 yards of fabric)
  • It is easy to shop by color, designer, brand, collection & style!  Just hover over those teal bars on the left & jump right to what you are looking for!  Of course you can also search by any keywords near the top of the page too.
  • You can now shop by the 1/4 yard
  • Once you have all your goodies in your cart, you can audition your fabrics in some quilt block designs!
  • Gallery - the virtual show & tell of customer quilts and our quilts is expanding
  • Gift certificates in any dollar amount - purchaser can even send a personal message to recipient, and the Gift Certificate is valid immediately after purchase
  • Preview fabrics that are on the horizon & sign up for email alerts for its arrival with a 5% coupon code when the fabric is in house. No payment in advance.
  • Even more Fabrics N Quilts patterns!  ~ Free patterns ~ are also on the new site & more will be coming soon including some video tutorials in the coming months too.
Did I mention FREE US SHIPPING?  Free shipping is one of my favorite things ... ;)

I made this pillow cover for my Butterfly's favorite pillow from these fabulous fabrics :

I started with this KIT .

The pattern was for a bedrunner but I easily adapted it to make this pillow cover.

For the pattern: Click Here
(then click on "Bedrunner" link)

These free projects were designed by Shannon at Fabrics N Quilts for Quilting Treasures

Since the pillow is smaller, I used the extra strips to make a pieced back to the pillow.

I also have a cut of the turquoise butterfly print and some extra fabrics and am working on designing a small toss pillow with the help of the

new preview and design feature.

It is really  nice to see how the colors and prints work together before purchasing the fabric.

I always find wonderful fabrics, notions, patterns and inspiration at Fabrics N Quilts

Friendship x and + Swap Update

The last of my Friendship x & + Swap Blacks in progress!

My online quilting friend Dorian @ Ridge Top Quilts
and I have been making and swapping these blocks for the last few months.

Lolly Quiltz

These blocks are made from the wonderful

from

These are the pieces needed for the 8" unfinished block.

My friend and I have decided to to make a medium size lap quilts.

Half of the blocks will be mine and half will be hers.
We have been making six blocks per month and sending three.

Since January, I have been playing catch up most months making and sending blocks every other month. This is a very easy and relaxed swap between two friends who understand each others' more important commitments and that sometimes life just gets in the way of our sewing fun.

Here is the layout for my quilt.

It is 7 rows and 8 columns.

56 Blocks.

The blocks measure 7.5" finished,
so the quilt will be 54.5" by 62" plus the binding.

I am going to use a gray binding.

Dorian and I decided to use up our scraps and to use some of our gray scraps
somewhere in each block so I am calling my quilt ...

"Everything Goes With Gray"

I am making the last of my blocks this week.

Yay!

I will be sewing my top together soon!

Thanks, Dorian, for swapping blocks with me!

I am scrappy and happy!

Are you scrappy, too?

Have you seen this great scrappy challenge?

My Perfect Picnic

Welcome to the picnic in my hometown!

How about a game of quilty checkers?

The center of my quilt is a real checkerboard!

My hubby painted wooden disks for the checkers for me.

When I saw this blog hop in the works from

I knew I wanted to join the fun!

Picnics in the parks
that line both banks of the river that runs through my city are a regular weekend event
 for us and many others.
There are always many families and single people picnicing, playing ball, biking, walking, jogging
and just enjoying the outdoors.

When I found these

Riley Blake Flutter Fabrics @ Fabrics 'n' Quilts
I knew these were my perfect picnic fabrics
and immediately started working on the design for my quilt.

So I have made this Picnic Quilt with the idea that it would be a 1st Anniversary Gift for my daughter.
The fabrics in the quilt top or "Flutter" by Riley Blake.
I love this fabric line.
I love the colors.
Riley Blake fabrics are so color rich and nice to the touch.

I was the very lucky recipient of this beautiful laminated chevron fabric from our generous sponsor,

These new laminates are very soft and flexible.

The  laminate is only on the top.  The back of the fabric is a soft weave.

I read all the helpful hints from Riley Blake on the sewing and care of these fabrics, like these

I love the the back of this quilt!

I consider this a two-sided quilt.

The backing makes a great wipe clean tablecloth if I want to save the front of the quilt from spills.

Thanks, Riley Blake, for sponsoring our blog hop

and generously sending me a little extra backing fabric

 to make my 60" quilt!

I had a small piece of the pretty chevron laminate fabric left

so I made pouch for the checkers.

My hubby likes this quilt so much we have decided to keep it.

(I shall be making another one soon to send to my daughter.)

We also decided that we need a new picnic basket for ourselves.

So we decided to take a drive ...

Destination:

Peterborough, NH, is about an hour and a half drive down some

very pretty back roads.

We used to live in this part of New Hampshire

so I have actually visited their factory outlet showroom before.

They offer great discounts in their no frills factory outlet

where your can see the basket making process, too.

There is even a section of "factory seconds" which look pretty perfect to me.

Thanks, Peterboro Baskets, for sponsoring our blog hop!

We found some great outlet prices,  so we bought two baskets.

One large enough for a my hubby and I to go on picnics ...

all ready to put the top down and ride ...

<3 ... just the two of us ... <3

...and one personal size picnic basket just for me!

I do not carry a large pocketbook or tote bag, but I shall carry this small picnic basket

with me with a snack and a hand project and a book tucked in.

What do we like to pack in our big beautiful basket?

Pie is a must for our picnic basket.

This one is Strawberry-Rhubarb,

which is a spring favorite in my house.

You can find my recipe by scrolling down to my previous post

or clicking HERE

We, also, pack fresh and easy to eat foods in our basket,

like fruit, cheese, veggies, the fixin's to make sandwiches.

Both my husband and I love to make homemade bread.

Charlie made this loaf which is why it looks so perfect.

Do we play checkers?

Yes, we do!

We also bring a deck of cards,

something to read.

There are free summer band concerts by the river and we will enjoy laying out our quilt.

We also like to sit out in the evening and picnic in our own backyard.

"Just Me and Charlie Talking"

We are looking forward to many picnics

with this bright and pretty quilt!
