30's POTC BOM ~ Block 1 Done!


Block 1 is done!

This is for a 30's POTC BOM that I started Here

This also shows the background fabric I have chosen.

Since all the 30's fabrics will be scrappy,
I decided to go with a single background fabric that frames the blocks

This quilt is based on the historic quilt from







I found this book on Amazon written by Lucy's daughter-in-law.

It is not a pattern book.

I has a lot of photos and history of the The Manor.


It is a very interesting read about Lucy's life and quilts.

I like to read when I am not sewing.

I have the pieces ready to sew Block 2.

I just need to decide which of these layouts I like best:

I am having a tough time deciding
and am going to have to sleep on it.

A French Courtyard Patchwork of the Crosses Quilt


My new Patchwork of the Crosses quilt fabric!
This fabric line is 


These are my birthday gift fabrics.
Red, buttery yellow, gray and off white ...
the colors are personal favorites.
They are so pretty! 
The colors are more vibrant than the photos taken here on my gray day 
in the northeast or the ones on the website may show. 

Plans are to make a 




I have made a cutout cardstock viewer to help me determine how to best fussy cut these fabrics for the honeycomb shape.

I learned this "view before you cut" technique from my expert 
Lucy Boston block friend,


I am putting together a few block kits today to pack with me to sew on my upcoming trip to visit my daughter and grand-darling.

It will take me a long time to hand piece this quilt.

I am happy I have these beautiful fabrics to keep me inspired to keep sewing.
