Mystery Unveiled

My March Mystery Weekend Quilt top is done!

Warning!

Spoiler Picture Below

if

you

are

still sewing

and do not want to spoil the surprise

stop reading

;)

I am really happy with this mystery pattern

and with my quilt top ...

I am calling this quilt
"Torrents of Spring"

The reference is to Eugene Bozza's "Aux Bords du Torrent"
from "Jour d'été à la montagne."
There is a 20 second clip of this on my playlist.
It is a flute piece that I have enjoyed hearing my daughter play.

If you are looking for good directions for a Bargello Twist Quilt, these instructions were very easy to follow.

The fabric requirements are written for three jelly rolls of 40 strips that have two of each fabric, but I cut from some yardage I had in my stash.  A half yard of 20 different colors or fabrics works well.

Pattern by Jessica J.E. Smith also available Here

I am thinking that I would like to make this again as a monochromatic or two-color quilt.

This will be pinned up next to my machine while I am figuring how to add a custom border with the scraps I have left.

I think the question mark, the post layout and the flute music reference are all random enough ... ;)

even though I am late
just because I always  enjoy all the pretty pictures here.

Sewing My Spring Mystery Quilt

Pretty as an Easter Basket!

All units sewn and bagged and ready to assemble into the top!

I went with Fabric Option # 3 in my previous post.

It looks to be a good choice. :)

Since I have completed all but the last mystery installment,
I have seen "The Big Reveal"

... and it is amazing!!

I cannot belive this is a mystery quilt pattern!

On the other hand, had I seen it beforehand, I might have said,
"That is beautiful but it looks very complicated and maybe I will attempt it someday when I have time."

The mystery instructions take an intricate pattern and breaks
it down in to many small easy steps.
Before you know it, you have created  a gorgeous quilt!

On Monday, after nicking my finger with the rotary blade
late Sunday night, when I was overtired and should have called it a night ... or should have been more careful ...

cutting

sewing

At the risk of being called "The Gloved One"
this glove may become a regular thing.
Actually, there is not much risk of that ...
I love music ... but I can't sing ... ;)

My finger has healed well and my blog hop post has been ready
and waiting to go up at midnight.

Looking forward to the blog hop ...
but for now ...

This makes me very happy.
When we got home from grocery gathering we found this backpack in the living room, which means one of our sons is here for the weekend.
No truck parked in front of the house. No son to be seen.
He must already be out hanging with his buddies.

~ It is all good ~

Time to go sew the mystery!

Have a happy weekend!

A New Mystery Quilt Weekend!

Mysterious Fabrics

I wonder what they will make?

It is a mystery to me!

is coming from my favorite Mystery Quilt Designer,

to my quilty home away from home on the web ...

I am sew ready for some seriously mysterious quilty fun!

A quilty friend is planning to visit and sew with me on this one
so it shall be double the fun.

There are some fabulous fabric kits for this available online in

I love all these fabrics and colorways, so I would love to buy everyone of them, but I am keeping to my "sew my stash" resolution.

The two colorful hand-rolled jelly rolls in the photo have been sitting on my shelf for a couple of years, just waiting for the right project to come along.  Looks like this may be it!  I will be adding the hand-dyed rainbow half yards to the mix to have enough fabric for the full bed size quilt.

As I also love to explore all my fabric possibilities, I will still look through my yardage this week and see what else may speak to me about wanting to be in this quilt.  I love fabric!

Hope to see you sewing the mystery with us on
where new friends are always welcome!
