A Sunny Baby Quilty Day

Time to make a baby quilt to welcome a new baby!

The baby mom has chosen a gray and yellow nursery for her baby boy,
so I pulled these sunny, happy fabrics from my stash.

Cutting instructions are ready.

I like this 18" by 24" Sewline Pressing Mat.
I can set it on my cutting table and get the wrinkles out of
my yardage before I cut.

I bought it HERE
(affiliate link)

My Panasonic Cordless Iron works great for this.

I have had this about a year.
It is lightweight and needs to be set back on the charger between pressing

... but I love the freedom of moving it to where I need it .. :-)

I bought it HERE
(not an affiliate link)
I do not recall waiting for delivery.
Must have been in stock when I bought it.
It is the Walmart model,
so it is probably also available there.

I still use my regular iron and ironing board for pressing tops and such..

Time to sew!

Have a Happy, Quilty Day!

Identifying and Tracking a UFO

String Swap Blocks

This is a UFO that has been hiding
just outside my quilty orbit for too many years.

Objective:  Take This One Down By March, 2018

With the help of the

For Intel check in with Squadron Leader

These swap blocks were  made using a 7" by 10" rectangle of muslin for the foundation.

This pattern may be found here

These blocks were made in 2010

Tucked in with these blocks is my hand written list,
with the names of swappers,
all some of my first online quilty friends,
one of whom has gone on to quilty heaven.
These blocks are treasures in my stash.

I love using up strings.
I have no idea why these are still a UFO.

Must be poor time management.
Too easily distracted by new fabric and patterns.
Out of sight, out of mind.

All excuses.
Pick one.

I actually pulled these blocks out in 2014 when I joined and posted in the

No More Excuses.

Time to Bring This UFO Down

Wish Me Luck!

There are two blocks per month,
one pieced and one applique.

Once upon a time I avoided machine applique.

I always loved the look of the blocks,
just not the process.

With time and effort I have found a way that works for me.

Blocks are free for a month so save them now!

"Why not?"  asks the Maestro.

"Oh, just let me do it for you,' says Maestro,
"This is easy!"

With time and effort ...and a little help from my quilty kitty ...

In some past years I have been a designer for this talented group.

Last year the commitment was feeling stressful
and my friends took on my last month's block.

This year I am just sewing along with my friends.

I pulled his bundle and other fabrics from my stash to start.

This  bright and pretty fat quarter bundle is
Simply Happy from Riley Blake.

For those who may be interested,
this bundle is on sale at
Precuts of the Week @ Fat Quarter Shop
(affiliate link)

I will be adding other bits and pieces as I see and sew the blocks

The cute appliqued Hedgehogs block is next on my list.

Hope to see you sewing along, too.
