May Flowers and Stitching
My Mother's Lilacs are blooming.
Usually they have bloomed by Mother's Day,
but the buds were still tight last weekend.
It has been a cool spring here in the northeast.
This old bush has many blooms this year.
It is good to see it flourishing again
after many years when it had declined due to too much shade.
The scent is so sweet.
As is the scent of these tiny lily of the valley which flourish
in the shade under the the lilac.
After Friday night's strong thunderstorms,
the skies are blue with fluffy cumulus clouds.
So we have been doing yard work today.
I have had a little time to sit and stitch on my yard swing
and am adding little green leaves to the branch.
So I am still on Part 1,
which I hope to have done tomorrow.

Maestro Picks Our DMC Floss Pack Winner!
We have a Winner for or
There were 18 comments on our post and two comments asked not to be in the drawing.
I wrote all the comment numbers and names on a scrap paper and cut them apart.
Ever helpful, Maestro joined me at the computer.
I folded the strips up tightly and put them in my pin dish.
Maestro dug right in but had trouble picking one up with her teeth.
So I spread them out on the table and she picked one right away out of the middle ...
... and chased this one off the table onto the floor.
Maestro is a smart kitty.
She only knocked one of them off the table
so this is clearly meant to be her pick as the winner.
I picked it up and opened it and Maestro gave it the paw of approval.

I Like Thursday # 55 ~ Life in the Scrapatch
It is Thursday, so I have posting some of the things that have made me smile this week.
This Northern Mockingbird has been serenading us this spring.
His imitative song repertoire includes
sparrows, jays, robins, crows, wrens, titmice, seagulls,
my neighbor's lovebird,
and even a police siren.
He is an urban bird and likes my neighbor's chimney top.
The flowers in my yard are blooming.
The tulips are starting to drop their petals as we have had some very windy days.
The Creeping Phlox starting to bloom.
I buy new phlox at the end of the season when it is no longer blooming
in the sale sections of the garden centers and when they bloom
in my yard the colors are always a surprise.
All shades of phlox are pretty.
These are very established but the ones in the top right of the photo on the other
side of my yard are quite new.
They just happen to be the same shades of lavender and dark pink.
I have been trying to sit outside and stitch but it has been so windy and cool
that my hands get too cold and I have to move inside.
I like to play with the colors on my cross stitch
by picking and choosing from my small floss stash.
So I have this pack of threads that is unused
and am giving it away to someone who would like to stitch this bluebird
in the aqua colorway.

Our Home Chef box has some interesting meals this week.
The one with the pan in the front is their idea of a reday to cook meal.
It is chicken carbonara and has small red potatoes, brocolli,
a sauce packet and bacon garnish
and all you do is open, put in pan and bake.
The meats all come separately packaged
in the bottom of the insulated box with an ice pack
and are not in this photo.
My Scrapatch prepared the Thai Turkey Lettuce Wraps
and they were very tasty.
Dessert was small cone of Cheesecake Factory Strawberry Cheescake
Ice Cream that one of my son's brought over on Mother's Day.
Maestro, as you can see, likes ice cream
and is not happy that I am not sharing in this photo.
Kitty got a tiny taste on my finger and clearly wanted more.
Sorry, kitty, this is for humans.
So life has been good this week in the Scrapatch.

Sitting and Spring Stitching.
I did more stitching today on my
I hurt my back yesterday doing too much and am resting and stitching today.
The branch in the FQS Mystery Pattern is gray.
I like the grays.
I just like to play with the pattern and colors.
I decided to make my branch brown with the DMC 434 medium brown
that I had in my floss stash.
Next I had to choose a green (or greens) for my leaves.
Here are the greens I have on the fabric I am using for finishing my project.
The green on the left is the light "pine" green in the floss pack.
The other two greens are light and medium "avocado" green, I think.
