Walk In the Autumn Garden Quilt ~ Bloggers Quilt Festival Fall 2016

Here is my "Walk in the Autumn Garden" Quilt!

After a few days of rain and gloom I was able to take my

outside for a photo op.

It is still very wet but the sun came out today.

Fall is just starting to turn here after an usually dry summer
and what looks like will be a brief autumn.

This small quilt measures  28" square,
112" in circumference.

The top is made of four 12" finished blocks and a 2" border

As always, Katniss, the Quilty Kitty, was very helpful in the making of this quilt.

This block is my

"Granny Garden" pieced designer block for the

and is available

This block is easy piecing with a 25 patch center
which could be strip pieced.

The corner triangles are made by cutting two
Disappearing 9 Patch Blocks in half.

I was going for an autumn scattered leaves and end of flower garden look.

I am really happy with this quilt.

I used freezer paper to cut oak leaf motifs for quilting templates
and also did my favorite straight line quilting.

Here is a closeup of the quilting on the back of the quilt.

I did my first ever

I will definitely use this binding technique again.

Here is the back of the quilt.
I cut this from an Autumn Woods border print panel.

I am adding this quilt to the

This is a great garden quilt. You know I never thought of cutting out a template and sewing around it, why I never know, but thank you for the idea.

What a pretty quilt! As I said before, I love the binding, and your colors are so beautiful. I really like the backing you used. I would never have thought to use freezer paper for quilting motifs. Great idea!!!

Pretty, soft colors. I love the back, too.

Very soft and inviting. Not a palette I would have picked on my own, but it's very soothing and lovely together! Great quilt!

Pretty block and pretty colors. I like your backing fabric and binding, too. I have to look into using freezer paper for a quilting design. Beautiful finish!

What a clever design and lovely garden themed quilt! And the quilting and flanged binding are the perfect compliment. And kitty approved!
