You are always welcome at the scrapatch.
This my new front security door, door knocker and fall door wreath.
There is a new storm door, too.
Mr Scrapatch has been busy this summer weatherizing our drafty enclosed front porch
with new combination windows and doors.
We shall be very cozy this winter.
The door knocker is a claddagh ring,
which represents love, friendship and loyalty.

If you are unfamiliar with this symbol. Read Here.
Both of us are one of the 70 million people around the globe who are of Irish descent.
The weather has started to cool here and I have been baking bread again.
Like many people of the pandemic, I am trying my skills at making Sourdough Bread.
Most of what I have learned has been from
and recipes.
This is Rustic Sourdough using the "discard" half cup from my starter jar
to which the directions call for adding a tablespoon or two of yeast
to add stability and ensure the rise.
My hubby likes this recipe and I do not like to throw anything out.
This jar of starter is less than a week old.
This is the second jar I have started as the first one, started in the spring,
got a little too runny and discolored after a week of neglect.
I have read you can scoop out the discolored crust at the top
and use the good stuff underneath, but I am very cautious.
I had been storing my starter on the counter, but this new one is being kept in the fridge.
The washi tape line shows where it was last night when I put it in the fridge.
It needs to rise to double to be feed or used.
By next week I will be using only the sourdough to leaven and leaving off the yeast.
I will try to post another photo then.
The jam is from
Johnson Berry Farm
I found their yummy jams at a farmer's market on in Olympia, Washington,
when I visited my daughter's family while my son-in-law was stationed near there.
I now order them online and look forward to the lovely pink box
a few times a year.
The first apples and cider of the season are starting be available.
I love apple season!
It is Thursday so I shall enjoy a visit with my friends

your new door is gorgeous! The whole bit looks like a pottery barn ad! I forgot to get honey crisp apples... it's time! good luck with that soudough I haven't tried it yet...
Good morning! I believe I have that same wreath for the front door, or one that is very similar. I guess I could actually put it out now, couldn't I. Our weather seems to have turned overnight, literally. We've been in the 50s and low-60s all week with rain or mist. Your bread looks delicious - I can almost smell it through the computer screen. YUM! Take care and stay safe. ~smile~ Roseanne
Wow! Your sourdough bread looks like it came from a bakery! Lovely dishes, too! Thank you for all the links! Take care!
I like that wreath. I have a claddagh ring. :-) There's a lot of people that don't know the symbolism. Oh, I'm looking forward to apple season.
Love your new door and storm door. I have been kind of fretting about my doors, especially the front door with a huge oval, ugly etched glass window. The storm door is OK I have been fixing latches lately. Love your door knocker and wreath. I have been ordering jam from Small Batch Jam company I like their raspberry jalapeno. I love apple season.
Awe, look how pretty everything is at your house! I love the thought you put into arranging things!
The door is so so pretty. I should hang up pretty wreaths, but I never really have.
Glad you got your house all cozy for the winter, with new storm doors and windows. Your bread is looking yummy, as is that jam. And I love your door knocker and wreath. It looks very lovely. Hope you have a wonderful day.
What a nice door. You had me at real sour dough and jam. Enjoy your cool weather.
