ALYOF Mid Month Progress Report

My ALYOF March Goal:
Piece this Top

[Edit:  When I took this out and started really looking at how much I had done ... and how much more I have to do ... and the fact that I have not even made a decision about the fabric for the sashing posts, I have had to face the reality of the fact that this goal is unrealistic.  My goal now is just to make a decision about the sashing posts and to make progress on this top. I was no where near being ready to piece the top.  In fact, I have several steps that need completing.]

These fabrics were first seen on my blog Here

Then they were seen Here

Then they disappeared and became a mysterious UFO
flying around my sewing room and disrupting the force.

For my
ALYOF March Goal I want to complete make progress on this top!

Here is the long story ...

This quilt started as a mystery last fall.  I opted to go scrappy and use some Kona Solid 10" swap squares in my stash with gray yardage.  I like my colors and fabrics but at I got to a place where I started struggling with how my scrappy fabrics were working in this pattern so I put it to one side to "think about it" and the next thing I knew, other projects kept lining up ahead of it.  I really want to finish this quilt.

Since the mystery weekend is long over, I have looked at the whole top.

The pattern is called
Someday
and can be found
 @ Quiltwoman

I am back at the place where I left off!

No closer to making a decision!

All my HST are sewn.

I have started to add the medium gray solid sashing.

I need to make a decision about the small square posts in the sashing.

Here are my options ...
(1)  light gray posts

(2) rusty red posts

(3) scrappy posts

Black posts are not an option.  I have already ruled that out.
I tried it and it did not like the effect at all.

I am planning to eliminate the narrow inner border in the pattern and add only a wide medium gray plain border.
I will probably also bind it in the medium gray.

I am also linking up with

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

and with

Fresh Poppy Design

If you would like to help me decide, all feedback is welcome.

:)  TIA!  :)

My Lovely Year of Finishes March Goal

My March Goal for ...

... finish piecing this top!

I am linking up at the linky party at Fiber of All Sorts

I have chosen this UFO from last fall which is still in pieces on a shelf in my sewing room to be my March ALYOF project.  It started as a Mystery Quilt Weekend from one of my favorite designers, Jessica J.E. Smith at The Quilt & Needle.   My fabric choice was to use a stack of swap 10" squares in my stash.

The link above is where this quilt was last seen on my blog.

I loved the scrappy solids and the way this one was coming together.  At one point I set it aside to think about how my scrappy fabrics were working in the pattern and I got distracted by other projects.

I really want to get this top pieced.

So my March goal is to piece the top.

Wish me luck!

As the spring March Mystery Weekend is coming soon to the Q&N, it shall be easy to get distracted by the exciting new mystery.
I love the Mystery Quilt Weekends!
I know I will buy the pattern and enjoy all the eye candy in the mystery threads.  Sew much fun!

Maybe I can do both ... ;)

Lovely Year of Finishes February

This month I started joining in  A Lovely Year of Finishes

Here is my February Finish ...

Hugs and Kisses Quilt

This quilt, which I made for the blog hop, was my goal for this month.  Details in the link above. At the time I found this year long lovely linky party, I was working on the quilting and decided ALYF was just the boost I needed to get this one fun and done.

There are many many beautiful finishes posted in the linky party!
More quilty inspiration!

Time to start thinking about my March goal.

For next month's project, I want to chose one of older UFOs that needs to become a WIP again and then ALYF.

Hmmmmmm ... I have a few of those ...
what to pick?
;)

A Lovely Year Of Finishes

I am joining the finishing fun at Sew Bittersweet Designs.

This is my project for February.

My goal is finish this baby quilt.

For me a project that is intended to be a quilt is never a finish until it is quilted and bound.  I do all my own quilting, in this case on my home machine.  I always finish a quilt by handsewing the binding to the back.

May my quilt soon be finished.

:)
