Just Keep Sewing

These are the fabrics that are on my cutting table this morning.

They are actually fabrics that My Music Girl bought sometime ago and left here for me to make something she requested last fall that did not get done before my eye operation and then "Sewing for Baby" took priority.  Since her life has taken a different turn and she has been nesting and getting ready for baby, the other project has been shelved.  I want to make something for My Girl so I have decided to sew them into a small special project that is a surprise.

Life has been "unsettled" in my scrapatch and I just have to carry on ...
one day ... one stitch ... one prayer ... at a time.

I have been sewing ...

I made five blocks this month for
for his

QOV Block Drive

Some more feathers for my quilt

These are pieced according to the pattern.

Katniss says, "What?  No Ruffles?"

No ruffles on these, Katniss.

I like the original block pattern, too.

Well ... maybe I will ruffle one feather before I sew the top.
Time will tell ... ;)

My photos are a little gray and blurry.
The weather has been gray here.
Matches my mood ... unsettled.

My sewing corner continues to be my happy place.

I am sewing along 30 minutes of "me" time sewing with the ...

Berry Barn Designs

... and filling my Quilty Bucket with the

The Tilted Quilt

... and enjoying all the inspiration at

Although it is stormy today, it is
a season of change ...

Spring!

... new growth ...

... just keep sewing ...

On My Design Wall

Shades of Summer

This is a close up of the WIP on my design wall.  I have been testing a new design from my talented friend, Jess Smith @ The Quilt & Needle, where the complete pattern will be released soon. I really like the way this is working up.  This quilt is all about the fabric.  I have the top sewn and am deciding of the applique circle fabrics and placements.

 circle cutter

There are full size templates in the pattern, but I am making use of my favorite circle cutter for the smaller circles.  I will be leaving this pretty summery top up on my design wall while I catch up on my other quilty commitments.
The new mystery pattern ...

is coming to

The pattern clues say this will be fast and easy and 5 yards of fun!

Due to my personal schedule, I am not sure if I will be able to sew along this time, but I love watching all the quilts in progress.

Time to buy my pattern!

ALYOF Mid Month Progress Report

My ALYOF March Goal:
Piece this Top

[Edit:  When I took this out and started really looking at how much I had done ... and how much more I have to do ... and the fact that I have not even made a decision about the fabric for the sashing posts, I have had to face the reality of the fact that this goal is unrealistic.  My goal now is just to make a decision about the sashing posts and to make progress on this top. I was no where near being ready to piece the top.  In fact, I have several steps that need completing.]

These fabrics were first seen on my blog Here

Then they were seen Here

Then they disappeared and became a mysterious UFO
flying around my sewing room and disrupting the force.

For my
ALYOF March Goal I want to complete make progress on this top!

Here is the long story ...

This quilt started as a mystery last fall.  I opted to go scrappy and use some Kona Solid 10" swap squares in my stash with gray yardage.  I like my colors and fabrics but at I got to a place where I started struggling with how my scrappy fabrics were working in this pattern so I put it to one side to "think about it" and the next thing I knew, other projects kept lining up ahead of it.  I really want to finish this quilt.

Since the mystery weekend is long over, I have looked at the whole top.

The pattern is called
Someday
and can be found
 @ Quiltwoman

I am back at the place where I left off!

No closer to making a decision!

All my HST are sewn.

I have started to add the medium gray solid sashing.

I need to make a decision about the small square posts in the sashing.

Here are my options ...
(1)  light gray posts

(2) rusty red posts

(3) scrappy posts

Black posts are not an option.  I have already ruled that out.
I tried it and it did not like the effect at all.

I am planning to eliminate the narrow inner border in the pattern and add only a wide medium gray plain border.
I will probably also bind it in the medium gray.

I am also linking up with

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

and with

Fresh Poppy Design

If you would like to help me decide, all feedback is welcome.

:)  TIA!  :)
