Boo!

A Wicked Web

I have been waiting all year and wickedly plotting
for the chance to join in this haunting happening!

Today I get to spin my web in the wonderfully Wicked Blog Hop!

Boo Crew!

This wicked web started last spring with these adorable mini charms

Boo Crew Mini Charms by Sweetwater
that  I was lucky to win in the

April Showers Giveaway @ Busy Bee Quilts

These cute mini charms arrived from

charm layout

Fabric Requirements:

2 Boo mini-charm packs ... (I used almost all the charms)
1/2 yard mottled black fabric for web sashing and outer border and binding ... (I had less than an inch left)

Butterfly helped.

In addition to my regular cutting ruler,
I used my Quick Curve Ruler
and my

Kaleido Ruler

I sewed and pressed

Katniss helped.

I cut and sewed some more.

My quilty kitties were sew helpful!

pressed half back

Finishing details ...

I added a needle-turned applique circle of a Halloween print with a spider
in the center of the web.

I pinned the quilt sandwich only on the edges, back and front, smoothing each side several times and moving pins and repinning as needed.

I used the Glow in the Dark thread donated from favorite local quilt shop,
 Bits 'n' Pieces.

I decided simple straight machine quilting lines on the black web was all that was needed.

Then I added some hand stitches to the spider in the center and it glows furry in the dark.

Although both my hubby and I tried with two different cameras, we did not have one capable of getting a good enough shot of the glow in the dark web to post the photo, but it looks spooky sweet!

First I quilted the spokes outward.

Then I added web lines in the curved black sashing.

Then I outlined the web once in the back border.

Cutting the outer curve of the web with my Quick Curve Ruler.

I used 1.5" strips for the binding cut WOF on the grain.

I do not cut bindings on the bias ...

and I have never had any issues easing them even around curves.
I hand stitched the single fold binding to the back.

This is wonderful, Pat! So clever of you I must say and the thought you put into it is very apparent.

THX for the giveaway opportunity. Treated of course, especially chocolate is involved. Hubby would be trick, I think. LOL He is such a tease.

Oh how absolutely perfect for the season and thank you for the tutorial. I'll have to get out all of my Halloween scraps to create one for myself. Since I have 2 kidlets, treats are definitely preferred over tricks. We don't need any nightmares over here. Thanks for the chance to win.
