I will be posting some of the blocks made in 2019

 and all of the blocks I make this summer.

It is fun playing with these fabrics again.

My quilty muse has given me an clear image of how to layout these blocks.

Some of the fabrics I have in my stash.

There is also some fabrics that are new that I have ordered online

from a new collection that was released this year.

I am really excited about combining these two fabric collections.

I even have the back of the quilt image in my mind.

I never had a clear idea of how to lay out the blocks in 2019.

I am sew happy that I let this project sit and wait for the right time to work on it again.

5 rows of 10 blocks each

with Block 50 in the upper left 

and Block 1 on the lower right

I put these up on my design wall  to see how they play together.

I am still in the thought process for the setting
and will decide when all the blocks are finished.

I am really enjoying this quilty journey and playing with these pretty fabrics.

Scrappy Saturday ~ SAYG

My first 6 Blocks for the 

100 Days 100 Block Party @ GnomeAngel

The pattern is

Kinship -100 Days Fusion Block PDF Pattern

The fabrics are

Curio by Betsy Olmsted for Windham Fabrics

 and selected fabrics from my stash.

I played with the block pattern instructions a little

for Block 6

as I wanted to show as much of one of the bell jars as possible.

Then I found a scrap that had the selvage info 

for the fabric line and designer.

Score!

I keep a scrap jar for this project right on my cutting table 

so I can use up my scraps as I go,

especially the small pieces around the fussy cuts

for the focus fabrics in the blocks.

I call this method

SAYG  

 "Scrappy As You Go"

It uses up really nice scraps as I sew my blocks

and keeps them out of my bigger scrap jars

where they may or may not be used later.

I am really happy with this block

and this sew along

and have been able to keep up so far.

I also have a copy of the 

Kinship 100 Block Foundation Piecd PDF Pattern

which I may use for some of the more difficult blocks.

The frame is Butterfly dance by Windham Fabrics. 

Since I sew for fun and I do not sew for prizes,

(although prizes are fun)

I am not worrying about missing a day or anything.

I am just happy to be sewing along.

Counting Down to 100 Days

I am taking a break from quilting and getting ready to piece

This officially starts July 1st but I need to make sure I have everything ready 

and my fabrics will work so I am sewing one block ahead of time.

I like to sew the blocks one a day a intended by the sew along.

If I miss a day, I am okay with it.

I sew for fun and to make a quilt and share with the other quilters. 

Not for prizes

... although prizes are fun , too.

Saturday was a much better day for us to visit
see the quilts,
shop the show specials,



and play with all the long arm quilting machines.

A parking space in the garage right by the main door.

Plenty of places sit and sip an iced coffee.

Not much of a crowd.

We got to see all the beautiful quilts we missed on Thursday.

The quilts were amazing!

I was very selective finding and purchasing my take home goodies.

Between Thursday and Saturday,

other than  the Curio fabrics,

some new needles for my Janome, 

I only brought home  ...

this cute batik and wool pincushion kit. 

I loved the look of the dimensional flowers in the sample. 

I will have to hide this one from the kitties

who think all my pincushions are cat toys.

Maybe I will have to buy some real curio jars

and put my pincushions in them.

Maybe best buy the unbreakable kind ... ;)
