Debbieann's Round Robin is Home!

Debbieann's Finished RR has arrived home!

The last border is these cute paisley kitties and corner hearts.

Cherie made 82 paisley kitties for this border.

Cherie and I were in "Quilty Cahoots."

I sent her some of the neutral green I used to frame my border to frame her kitties and our quilty muses agreed that the black would be a nice final outer frame for this quilt top and the last of the original paisley, enough so she was able to make four kitties for the centers or the sides.

Cherie actually started piecing these kitties in July
while I had Debbieann's RR and was still thinking of what to add for a border
so I planned a transition border.

I had originally thought to have orange paisley and a darker multicolored paisley
in my fan blades but felt that a more neutral and restful colors would better highlight the colorful kitties.

I was also in "Quilty Cahoots" with Annette who sewed the border before me.
When I could not decided on the right fabrics for my fan blades with what I had, Annette went fabric shopping for me and sent me a yard to the brown paisley that was in Debbieann's medallion and this worked well.

When I saw Annette's border, I thought "shooting stars"
which was the inspiration for my border.

I love these stars "open up" the center squares of this medallion ...

Gina used the same orange as the border before hers and some of the paisley from the center block for her heart warming border.

Tricia added the first border to Debbieann's Medallion and introduced the orange as the pop color for this Round Robin.
Orange was a the perfect choice to compliment
the mossy greens and browns in the center medallion.

Now this Round Robin has traveled full circle.
From Canada to the upper midwest to the deserts of Nevada across the the country and up the east coast and home to Ontario, this quilt top in the making has had a fabulous trip and found some companions along the way.

Cherie made one more kitty for the back ...

This is "Emma"

who is a friend of "TC"

whom Annette made for the back of this quilt.

Debbiann is having this RR custom quilted by her long arm quilter.

Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt!

Enjoy your quilt, Debbieann,

Stitchin' Sisters RR ~ TC and the Medallion

"TC and the Medallion"

Debbieann has named her quilt!

I love the way these little stars make this medallion shine.

Annette added the 3rd border to Debbieann's Round Robin
and before she settled on these wonderfully twinkly little staggered stars,
she auditioned this block and she is sending it along home so Debbieann can piece it into the back of her quilt ...

Tuxedo Cat Block

from the book

This is a great block!

I especially love the little white feet.

The Butterfly wants me to make on just like her.  I shall have to put a white nose with a black butterfly spot on the nose when I make her block.

But first I must think, think, think ...

because Debbieann's beautiful round robin is on the way to me next!

I think I have an idea!

Finding the right fabrics in my stash may be a challenge.

Might have to do a little shopping for this one.

What fun!

Stitchin" Sisters Round Robin Update

My Stitchin' Sisters have been stitchin'!

This is the gorgeous border that Cherie
added to Gina's gorgeous Round Robin.

Hers is the third border on this round robin.
I think this is the perfect frame. I made the previous border and it took me well over a month to even get my act together.   When I sent it on to Cherie, she added this border in less than a week.  Now how does she do that?  I do not know where Cherie found her inspiration or learned how to make this border.  She probably took one look at the very complicated quilt in the making and took out her fabric and started sewing. She is a very experienced quilter and whips up these beautiful borders faster than I can unpack the next round robin when it arrives.

Here is a place where I found the method of making a similar Cross Overs Border:

I have never sewn this border but I really like it so I am tucking this idea away for future reference.

Here is Gina's wonderful border on Debbieann's Round Robin!

Gina's is the second border on Debbieann's RR.
Debbieann designed her medallion herself and surrounded her center star with those sweet
hearts all around.
Gina did her own take on the "hearts all around idea" and alternated small and large hearts
and added those strips on the larger hearts.
Sew creative and so right!

As always, I am learning a lot in this round robin about design and color.
This is the third round robin that I have participated in and
each one has been a real learning experience.
I think I have grown more as a quilter in these round robins than in any other quilty endeavor.

Right now I am working on my border on a striking fall colored round robin.
I had to dig deep in my fabric closets to find where I had tucked away my fall fabrics. I am very much a seasonal quilter.   I sew for fall when I feel the first nip is in the air.  I cannot do Christmas in July easily.  I do a as much Christmas sewing between November and the end of the year and then I pack those fabrics and unfinished projects away for next year.
Fall is my favorite season and I love fall colored fabrics but sewing with them in late spring is a new experience for me.  Hope I do this beautiful round robin justice.

Time to sew!

May you have a happy quilty day ... :)
