It started with this cross stitch work and these fabrics

and finished

I used an artist's canvas and my heavy duty stapler to display this finish.
More how-to photos in the link above.

Happily, I am linking up today with the

I am always very happy when I meet my monthly goal.

May Goal In Progress

Working on my
project today.

These are the fabrics I am using to make this a finished project.
I chose the fabrics before I started cross stitching
and chose floss colors to match the fabrics.
This is my own method.

The sewing on this one is going together quickly.

I will be posting a tutorial for this finishing method,
which I am figuring out as I go.

No waiting until the last day of the month this time ... :-)

One Monthly Goal for January ~ Completed

My January OMG is completed!

This goal oriented event is hosted monthly by

I started this project with this blank cloth and new thread spool
and posted this as

These were my first Sashiko Stitches.

I combined this goal with my Winter Blues Blog Hop project
which was to learn something new for this first month of the New Year.

I enjoyed this new journey very much and decided
to honor my first Sashiko stitches
by framing it in fabric and a simple white frame.
The small vase was a refrigerator magnet gift from one of my sons
and it seemed the perfect touch.

I am happy to have completed this simple goal and am linking up with
all the bloggers at the

Sew many wonderful goals completed in the links!

I hope to join this party again next month.

Slow Sunday Sashiko Stitching

I have been away from my machine and doing some slow stitching this weekend.
This is progress on my ...

This is very easy to carry along with me in these pretty sunflowers project bags.
I did not make these bags,
I have a similar pattern, but I do not enjoy sewing bags so I bought them from
someone who does  a very nice job of sewing them ...

These pretty bags were made by

I am not affiliated in any way with this shop.
I am just a happy customer.

This is the back of my work.
This new stitching project is Sashiko,
which is a traditional sewing method of Japan.

I saw a demonstration of this more than once and was
intrigued but not sure my stiff and achy hands could manage it.
My small success with getting back to cross stitching has give me the courage to try.

I am pleased with my efforts and am even managing several stitches at a time.

I actually find this easier than cross stitch and very soothing.

I hope to get my fingers nimble and strong enough to do some of the
lovely large stitch hand quilting that I have been seeing in the
modern quilty world.

Hope to have  my January OMG goal completed on time.

Linking up today with all the lovely

Happy stitching!

OMG ~ Something New to Meet the Winter Blues 2020

Something old that will be new (for me) for the New Year.

I have decided to participate in the

A few years back I used to participate in this regularly on another site.
My track record in recent years has not been too successful.
So I will make a January goal and see how it goes.

I am also participating in the

I am combining efforts here.

My January Goal is to beat the Winter Blues by stitching something new and blue.

It just may have something to do with this piece of dark blue fabric.

Wish Me Luck.

Are you setting monthly goals for 2020?

If sew, maybe you would enjoy participating with the fun

Many, many inspiring projects in the works.

Hope to see you joining us.
