One Monthly Goal ~ June 2020

At the end of May I posted  Here
about these sunflower fabrics that have been in my stash
since 2007.

I have these three blocks from a BOM in 2008.

By the end of June I hope to have a quilty finish with these pretty fabrics.

But this is still a UFO.

It was started Started Here in January
and these fabrics were my inspiration.
These are also my intended finishing fabrics.

Time to "get 'er done!"

This is my

May OMG link-up is open!

I enjoy setting a small finishing goal each month
to reduce my UFO and WIP stack.

I am always happy when I get something done.

OMG WIP ~ Stitching Therapy

Stitching Therapy happening here tonight.

The day was filled with problems with delivery people for a new appliance.
Many calls were made before we finally got a good person at the place where
we purchased it to tell us to report it as "damaged" so that steps
could be taken to get us a new appliance.
This will take several days, during which we will be without a refrigerator.
Oh, well.  This too shall pass.

So I working on my

May you have a happy weekend.

Love Letters Quilty Love

I am matching my DMC colors to this

I have some very special plans for this cross stitch.

For  my

One Monthly Goal in February

I hope to finish the cross stitch part of this project.

Stitching is slow for me with my vision issues
so this part of the project is enough for me for one month.

OMG ~ Something New to Meet the Winter Blues 2020

Something old that will be new (for me) for the New Year.

I have decided to participate in the

A few years back I used to participate in this regularly on another site.
My track record in recent years has not been too successful.
So I will make a January goal and see how it goes.

I am also participating in the

I am combining efforts here.

My January Goal is to beat the Winter Blues by stitching something new and blue.

It just may have something to do with this piece of dark blue fabric.

Wish Me Luck.

Are you setting monthly goals for 2020?

If sew, maybe you would enjoy participating with the fun

Many, many inspiring projects in the works.

Hope to see you joining us.

Stitch and Sew X Factors

I am a 2,
both drawing and stitching.

I saw this first in a Cross Stitch FB Group
where I am a member:

Where apparently I am odd because I actually draw and stitch both the same way.

Apparently I am also "scary" and a "freak" according to many of the comments
on the original Twitter Post.

Do I care?

Not at all.

I am not social media person or follow trends.
Nor do I usually watch the Today Show.
If you are interested in more on this X story google it or
... where someone actually says
"I don't know anyone who starts from the bottom."

Hmmm .... I do.
This guy does not know me.

My hubby, who more typical when it comes to drawing x's,
suggests maybe it is so I can see my work.

This makes sense to me.

My hubby knows me ... <3

I do care more about the fact I am not getting my

accomplished.

If you compare photos from these two posts
you will see I have not been cross stitching.

I was going to stitch during the football games on Sunday,
but the games were so interesting
and kept my attention focused on the play.

I have been sewing.

Maybe I do not care enough not to play with
my sewing machine .

Either way I am happy and stitching in my happy place.

Hope you are warm and safe and happy
crossing your x's.

One Monthly Goal ~ January

I am joining in the

hosted by

My January goal is ...

... to complete all the cross stitching on my

Too often I put aside a holiday or seasonal project once the day and time has passed.

I am back in my sewing room which was Christmas Planning Central
for a month and my machine is uncovered
and I have projects to sew.

I need to take a few minutes a day and get this cross stitch done this month.
I do enjoy sitting and slow stitching.
This is a good goal.

Wish me luck!

I used to have quilty list for myself each month.
and I have let it slide the last year or so,

I am thinking I need to revise my monthly list.

Not to stress myself out.

Just to organize myself.

I need to keep it simple so I can cross things off
and feel accomplished.

Everly is also getting a big girl bed.

Grammy has to make a quilt to mark the occasions.

I am using the quilt kit pictured above.

Looks like the old alphabet book
that I had as a child.

I shall be visiting next month
and plan to bring this little quilt with me.

For May, my goal is to complete the quilt top.

When not at my machine, I also plan to slow stitch  more POTC blocks.

OMG ~ April is Accomplished!

Block 5

This is my favorite block so far.
This one will be called the Easter Block in my quilt
as I took it with me and stiched as I visited
and it will remind me of the lovely weekend I had with my family

 Block 6

Block 4

Two Scrappy Connecting Units

I have completed my

OMG!

I decided to make

 3 Main POTC blocks

and 2 connecting units.

I have actually completed four main blocks as

this one was in process when I posted my goal.

I am loving playing with the pieces to the

I have a small tin of ready to sew honeycombs
that I made from the BOM kit fabrics and
my stash fabrics that I have auditioned previously and saved.
These are waiting for the "right block."

The cute turtles called my name today and  I have two layouts in progress,
one I have started stitching, but I have not chosen the fabrics for the
outer honeycombs.  This is sew fun ... :)

Lots of beautiful inspiration in the links!

Enjoy!

Rainy Day Stitching and Backyard Birds

I am stitching the first of my connecting blocks for my

I am using up small scraps here.

I have a 1" template with a 3/8" seam allowance but am
also trying to use the small squares left after cutting the honeycombs
from a 5" charm square.
This allows for, at beats, a scant 1/4" seam.

I am wondering if any experienced EPPers
would please weigh in on this.

I am concerned that the scant 1/4" seams might compromise my finished quilt.

I want this quilt to last a lot longer that it takes me to make it
and I use my quilts and it will get a lot of wash and wear.

Advice very much appreciated.

So far I am only stitching in the ones with a 3/8" seam allowance.

It is a very rainy day here.

A good day to stay in and sew
and watch the backyard birds
through the windows.

Here is one I have never seen in my tiny postage stamp size urban lot ...

a Wild Turkey!!

We do see them a lot along the highways and in rural areas
but not on our city street.

Katniss has decided to keep a close eye on our visitor today
and is not helping me sew.
The look on her face when she saw this huge bird was priceless.

May you have a happy stitchy day ... :)

One Monthly Goal ~ April

This is my WIP for my

30's Patchwork of the Crosses Quilt Started Here

I really want to make this quilt!

To help keep me on course I am going to use these blocks for my

Elm Street Quilts

I am linking up here:

One Monthly Goal ~ April Goal Link Up

My April Goal is to:

Finish 3 main POTC blocks

Finish 2 connecting blocks

These images are from this free pattern site:

I am sewing these from kits I receive from

30's POTC BOM @ Sew and Sow Farm

I do not have April's kits yet so I am counting Block 3
shown in progress at the top of this post in my April block goals.

My April goal; will be Block 3, 4 and 5
and two connecting blocks.

I will not be sewing the pieces to this puzzle together yet,
as I want to have more blocks to lay out
before I start this part of the process.

Wish me luck!
