It is a messy day of wintery mix and wind here today.

Mr. Scrapatch has gone off to work.

I will be staying in and sewing today.

Getting Ready for a Winter Mystery Quilt Along

 

Winter Mystery Fabrics 

These scrappy blue winter fabrics have been in my stash a long time.

They are left from a swap that I participated in many years ago.

I have used some of the swap fabric in a quilt and other projects, but I still have a pile left.  I am using a single white solid for the background. The white is from the "Thatched" collection by Moda.  It is a bright white called "Blizzard."

I am hoping to use some of them up to sew a quick and easy mystery table runner next Monday.

Clue 3 Sewing Is Done

I am sewing along with the quilters at the

Here are all the pieces of this puzzle so far.

Sewing for Clue 4 will be released on Monday 

and that is the last clue.

Almost time for the mystery quilt reveal!

I am really enjoying the slow and easy pace of this quiltalong.

It has been a busy day outside working in the yard and I am tired.

In the middle of the day it suddenly started thundering 

and there was a downpour and even some hail.

It was all over very quickly and then the winds blew the clouds away.

Tomorrow is forecast to be another sunny day.

I will be outside cutting back bushes and planting some summer flowers 

in the rest of my windowboxes.

I hope to get some quilting done before sleep time. 

I am also trying to decide if the scale of this 

Curio by Betsy Olmsted for Windham Fabrics

are too large scale for my quilt for the 

#100days100blocks2019

The pattern info says the blocks are 8.5 square and 8.5 by 4.5.

The largest curio jar is smaller than my 8.5"

so I think they will work.

 

There are some interesting motifs in this fabric line that would be fun to fussy cut into the blocks.

I think I will find some solids and tonal fabrics in my stash to use with these fabrics.

Clued In and Closed Off

Clue 1 for the QATW Forum Mystery Quilt

is done! 

I started this mystery quilt here.

This one was easy peasy.

Cut strips

Sew strips; cut strip sets, sew strip sets. 

Press ...

and I am ready for the next clue.

Or am I not?

These blocks were easy to sew,

but not easy for me to sew right now.

My right hand is in a brace.

Apparently I am a "one out of every ten" quilter who 

has developed 

Quilters' Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

I actually already do most of the suggested guidelines

for trying to alleviate this condition.

So I am closed out of my sewing happy place for the moment 

and I am taking the afternoon off from sewing 

and catching up with the book that has been 

on my nightstand for a few weeks now.

At least I can read about quilting.

Sew I decided to dig through my fabrics and join in the fun!

Oh look, a new mystery quilt!"

That is me.

I do not need another project.

I do like mystery quilts and this one can be made in a wallhanging size

so it should be quick and easy.

I am planning to make it a little larger with the fabric on the right

 which is a border stripe fabric

and my inspiration for my fabric choices.

These are stash fabrics from three different fabric lines

but they look great together.

Nutmeg agrees ... :-) 

When Nutmeg moves off the fabrics I can cut me some fabrics.

Clue #1 cutting is up!
