Clementine Quilt Along ~ Block 6

Clementine Quilt Along Block 6

Strawberry Star

This one was fun to sew.

All of these blocks have been a skill building challenge for me.

This is the last set of blocks for my red and white quilt.

Woo-hoo!

I will soon be sewing my top together.

I know I am going to love this quilt.

I have been sewing these blocks for the

Fat Quarter Cubes Quilt Along

I love this pattern in these fabrics!

This fabric glows!

It started with this beautiful fat quarter bundle
of Ombre Metallic Confetti fabric from

These fabrics are luminous,
not just because of the metallic dots
or the sun in this photo.

The colors seem to glow in any light.
This photo was taken inside at midnight in shadowed light.

I chose these fabrics into the wonderfully easy

from the

For  my quilt, I sorted my 18 Fat quarters into sections
and opted to use three yards of the confetti ombre metallic fabrics
for  my sashing and borders.

Here is the completed quilt top.

Here is the back of the quilt.
I used the gray ombre confetti and a piece of metallic Star Wars fabric from my stash.

When it came time quilt it, I wanted to accent the colors I used in the sashing strips,
so I chose three matching Aurifil thread colors.

Katniss was very helpful making and quilting this quilt.

One of the things I loved about this pattern is the fact the cutting directions
included cutting the strips to make this great multi-colored binding.

This photo was taken at the very end of daylight after a cloudy, rainy day.

Luminous!

I made this quilt for a Millennial who loves Star Wars.

Think this quilt hits the mark?

I feel a great sense of accomplishment when I complete a quilt.
I piece and quilt my quilts entirely on my home machine.

I have been having some health/medication issues that have been
keeping me and my doctor and pharmacist busy for awhile
and I have two followup appointments with my doctor
and need to see a couple of specialists
in the next few months.

Sewing keeps me going one stitch at a time.

Quilting is my happy place.

The sun came out today and I enjoyed my cup of java
on the swing with my new quilt.

It is a good day.

May you have one, too.

Thank you,
for another wonderful quilt along!

Katniss says,  "No peeking!"

Okay, Katniss, I will give no more sneak peeks.

I am really looking forward to showing off this one, though!

Come back soon to see the pretty project
that Katniss and I are sewing.

This has been my favorite block to make so far.

In part because I have a new ruler ...

I received this ruler in my

In the past I have used a skinny ruler
which was  much harder to hold securly and safely.

As you can see the new trimmer is so much easier to use!

This "cutting corners" method helps me to piece more quickly and accurately.

I liked it so much I also bought the
8" Simple Folded Corners Ruler
for larger units.

Here are both the large and small

I love this quilt in the making!

Getting Ready to Make that 1st Cut

The fabric plan.

Getting ready to cut.

Still the toughest part of the quilting process
after all these years for me.

Making that first cut into that beautiful fabric.

Wanting to do right by that gorgeous color and design.

Do you feel that way, too?

Mini Charm Chocolate Quiltalong

My quilt is featured today on

I love this quilt!

I started Here with these wonderful

Fragile  fabrics

and added Bella Bright Turquoise Here

from

You may purchase this lovely quilt kit Here

or choose your own fabrics and follow the free video tutorial Here

The center of my quilt was made following the fun and easy pattern.
When it came time to finish my quilt top ...

I picked a few extra mini charms and sprinkled them into my border.
I used four rounds of 2.5" strips and mini charms to sew my border.

My finished quilt measures 46" by 39"

For the quilting I chose
Aurifil 5006 - a pretty light aqua.

For the quilting I used my heavy duty walking foot
and stitched easy waves for a windblown effect.
I used two layers a=of Dream Puff batting to give it extra pouf.

When it came time to bind my quilt I added ribbon tags
for baby fingers to play.

My thoughts on baby quilts are that they should be oversized,
placed on floors, on the ground at the park
and shared with furry friends.

I finished it with a two-color machine finished binding
and added an extra line of stitches in the flange
so the ribbon tabs would hold up to lots of tugging.

A tutorial is coming soon of how I make this binding.

I love this windswept backing fabric!

I love this bold and graphic fabric line!

I do not know for whom I made this quilt.

It is going into a plastic storage for the baby to come along.

A big Thank You to the wonderful people at the
