I Like Thursday # 154 ~ This is Love

If love can be expressed by fabric, this says it all.

For our

I Like Thursday @ Not Afraid of Color

post this week, LeeAnna has asked us to blog about

what we like about Valentine's Day

and those special ways we tell others how we love them

and how they make us feel loved.

The fabric in the photo is the new Tilda "Pie in the Sky" fabrics,

Which I Blogged About Here Last Week

These are my "what would you like for Valentine's Day" gift from Mr. Scrapatch, who understands that for me, love is well expressed by fabric gifts.

Mr. Scrapatch and I do not make a big deal about Valentine's Day and do not think we really need one special day to show our love.  Love is something we try to do everyday, even when we are grumpy and not really feeling it.  Our grown-up kiddos all follow this path.

There were always some special treats or little toys or cards for Valentine's Day and paper decorations on the walls and windows just for fun, but it was just another day in our humble home.

I call it simply, "Happy Heart Day."

Since Mr. Scrapatch likes all things cinnamon,

this year the plan for Happy Heart Day is to make

Cinnamon Cream Cheese Mints using these ingredients and this

Cream Cheese Mints Recipe @ My Heavenly Recipes

Will post photos when I make them, if they do not disappear too fast.

May all your days be happy heart days.

Sweep Me Away ...

... to a peaceful place.

This is

I have been waiting for this collection to hit the shops
and was shopping online and was finding bits of it here and other bits there
when I found that my favorite local quilt shop
had the entire collection!

My Scrapatch was doing his curbside pick up errands and was actually at
this shop picking up some much needed rotary cutting blades and machine needle for me
so I called him and called them ...

and ended up with three yards of the main panel
and half yard cuts of the rest of the collection.

This is a natural light portrait shot of part of the WOF panel.

The colors are wonderful!

I am planning a wall quilt to be gifted.

These fabrics sweep me away to a peaceful place.

I can almost smell the sea breeze.

Just what I needed today.

Maybe the Hub and I need to bundle up one sunny morning
and take a drive and just go walk the beach.
It is cold here, with more snow coming tonight.
The beach will be deserted.
Social distancing at its best ... :)

May you be well and swept away to a peaceful place today.

Not That I Needed More Fabric ...

I just went to look ... really I did!

I found these goodies at the

February Fabric Blowout Sale, Nashua, NH

Still happening tomorrow.
If you are interested and live close enough, click the above link.

These are brand new
marked down.

I scooped these right up and found some beautiful
pink, red and ivory tonal yardage
to sew with them.

There was only one left of these and I am sure it must now be gone.

The yardage was $3 and $5 a yard

How could I resist?

It was like an indoor yard sale run by a few nearby quilt shops.

I found these different aida cloth pieces
that appealed to the newbie cross stitcher in me

There is an interesting panel under there, too.

"Bless This Home"
by Emily McGlothlen
for Henry Glass Fabrics.

Nutmeg and I are are quite contented with our new stuff.

My hubby even bought a couple of yards of fabric
although he is yet to sew a quilt.

It is good to have a hubby who understands that
collecting fabric and making quilts are two different things.

Is there a Secret Fabric Homing Instinct?

“Perhaps there is some secret sort of homing instinct
in books that brings them to their perfect readers.
How delightful if that were true.”
... Juliet to Dawsey
― Mary Ann Shaffer, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

I like to think this true of fabric, too.

This half yard bundle jumped into my stash
when I was looking for fabrics
to fussy cut for my POTC Obsession.

I had not read the book
or watched the movie at that time.
In fact, I had never heard of it.

I just fell in love with this focus floral!

It is a called "Juliet."

I just had to look for more ...

Soon this lovely Guernsey Kit found its way into my stash.

Then I found these lovelies at
where they wisely tuck a few charms in with your order.

These charms are from Caroline by Brenda Riddle

Here is my lovely Brenda Riddle stash now.

The Guernsey jelly roll is intended for a Jelly Roll Rug

The Caroline bundle with its lovely brown fabric is destined for
the pretty bird quilt pattern

I love these fabrics!

How delightful to think that fabrics may have a honing instinct to find their perfect home.

Do you believe fabrics find their way to you?

I could not wait to unwrap the Fat Quarter Bundle!

I am keeping the jelly roll it its wrapper for awhile.
I am planning to make a jelly roll rug for these strips.

As you can see the fat quarter bundle has already been petted and appreciated.

This fabric line has shot straight to top as my
"all time favorite fabric collection!"

This is arriving in shops in November.

I am sew lucky to have these early release goodies.

I have to finish my current project.

Then I have to sew something with this fabric.

September is My Favorite Fabric Month!

September is my favorite month for fabric!

There are a lot of reasons for this:

I love fall.

I love fall colors.

I love fall fabrics.

It is my birthday month and my family and friends
always gift me with fabric,
gift cards for fabric,
cash to go pick out some fabric I like, etc.

You see the trend here?

Sew I picked out this very fine fabric
for one of those nifty quilty giftys ... :-)

When I saw the

I knew I wanted this one!

I always enjoy Bernie's Blog and love the fabric she selects for her shop

I had $50 to spend so I bought the half-yard bundle and picked out
3 extra "Half Yard Cut - Any Fabric Listed"
to add to this beautiful collection

I am seeing a fall neighborhood quilt in the  future
for these fine fabrics.

It is always a pleasure to do business with  Needle & Foot
she ships quickly and also quickly refunds any over charge on shipping costs.

The little bag of jelly beans that were an added gift in my package
just sweetened the deal ... ;)
Thank you, Bernie

What is your favorite Fabric Month?

Getting Ready to Make that 1st Cut

The fabric plan.

Getting ready to cut.

Still the toughest part of the quilting process
after all these years for me.

Making that first cut into that beautiful fabric.

Wanting to do right by that gorgeous color and design.

Do you feel that way, too?

FQS Countdown to Christmas

<3 Fabric Love <3

Today may be a good day to stock up on yardage
I love and know I will use for multiple projects
or backgrounds for future quilts.

My palette choice for this of late has been
low volume prints, dots, soft grays and greens
like the ones above I purchased previously on sale and discounts.

I think I need to add some soft aqua to this stack ...

so I am visiting the

Fat Quarter Shop

I have always enjoyed the daily

Fat Quarter Shop Flash Sale - Countdown to Christmas

I have been a long time customer of the FQS.

My First Blog Post

features a quilt made from a kit I purchased
almost ten years ago from FQS.
Over the years I have appreciated
these good people who have always provided
good products and good service,
and who once replaced an entire order for me
which my local post office admitted they failed to deliver,
even though it was only partially covered by reimbursement.

Even though I live in the northeast and the FQS is an online shop in Texas,
it feels like my "favorite local online quilt shop."

The FQS is also very generous with charity projects
like the upcoming

Clementine Quilt Along 2018

I am participating!

So when I was asked if I would like to apply to become
and Affiliate Blogger, I did not hesitate to say yes.

So occasionally I will be posting about their sales and such.

My blog will otherwise remain ad and commercial free.

If you make a purchase through these links or
via the banner at the top right side bar of my blog,
I will be receiving a small percentage of the sale.

Thank you and may you enjoy!

I Love Fabric~ Sunday Stashing

The newest of the new!

Sunset Harbor from the Charleston Collection by Ami Sinibaldi @ Nana Company

I have been letting my fingers do the shopping on my computer recently.

I rarely purchase just released fabric but I could not resist these beauties

when I found them while I was shopping the sale
@
The Intrepid Thread

These colorful lovelies are from two of my favorite designers,

Carolyn Friedlander

and

Kate Spain

There is nothing for a fabric lover that compares to
receiving a box from

The Intrepid Thread Shop

The fabric comes all tucked in white tissue and tied with a fabric bow
and always includes a small square or two of gift fabric.

Katniss loves this experience, too, and plays with the ribbon and chases the
balled up tissue paper around the room.

Another recent acquisition was this ...

beautiful bundle of Alison Glass!

I shopped in Bernie's wonderful new

This was another fun package to open and I will definitely
be shopping here again.

This cute Quilting Queen decal is a new addition, too!

I purchased it from my creative, crafty daughter in her
start-up etsy shop,

Now it will be easy to locate my computer in the airport bins!

Maybe I should ask her for a custom "Fabric Love" design ... :-)

For more of my fabric love ... old and new ...

Fabric Loving in the Scrapatch

This lovely fabric is an Ambleside Petite Fat Quarter Bundle!

I was the lucky winner of this lovely Giveaway
from
and

These pretty vintage looking fabrics remind me of the curtains and bed spread that my mother chose for my room when I was a very young girl.
I am not sure what I will make but I am thinking maybe a sweet lap quilt.
I really like the blue in this fabric and am thinking to put a light blue solid with these prints.

Thank you, Lorna and Kimberly!

These lovely new fabrics also arrived yesterday ...

I needed more of

this fabric

for this project

and  ... I could not resist a few more lovely

Lewis and Irene  fabrics.

I see some more coming into this shop that are calling my name.

I love these fabrics ... just look at this ...

Bumbleberries!

I want some in every color!

<3 This could be my new favorite textural tonal fabric line! <3

While I was waiting for the coral bird fabric  so I could work on my quilt,

I made these ...

from
Harry Potter Fabric @ Spoonflower

This is the first time I used fabric from Spoonflower.

The was a screenprint on Kona ... really nice fabric.

My daughter had it sent to me for these strap covers.

These are for my daughter's Kinderpack.

I looked at some of these online and figured my own pattern ...

and they arrived and they fit ... :)

My daughter and her family are now stationed in the PNW
and this photo was taken at the Point Defiance Zoo.

I am hoping to visit them sometime this summer.

Back to quilting ... ;)

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend ...

and Remember.
