New Blog Hop Coming ~ Sign Up Now!

I so love the beach.

These are my toes in the Pacif Ocean, Posted Here in 2017

when I visited there two years ago.

So as soon as I saw this new blog hop announcement

Salt and Sand Blog Hop 2019

I signed right up!

This blog hop is being organized right now by the lovely

Carol @ Just Let Me Quilt

So hop right over to sign right up if you wish to join in the fun!

~

I have a lot of ideas for this theme.

Hmmmm ...what to choose?

~

Right now where I am the beach would look more like this:

This is the northern Atlantic.

I do enjoy a walk on this beach in winter,
as long as I am wearing warm woolies,
like Bernie's Mittens,
and warm boots.
No toes in the water here now.
Brrrr ... would get frost bite!
The beach in the photo is about thirty minutes from me by car
and it is usually wind swept
and the water is always cold, even in summer.

Mostly right now I like to stay inside and pet the fabric and snuggle under the quilts.

Maybe I should bundle up and take a walk in the cold and salty air
to clear out some cobwebs ands find some inspiration.

Are you feeling inspired?

Hope to see you joining us in the blog hop!

Curves QAL ~ January Goal ~ 8 Blocks

My blocks are done for the January Goal for the

2021 QAL @ Patchwork Inspirations

These are Fan Blade Blocks of my own design.

I used my 8" Dresden Ruler to cut the fan blades.

I started with this small fat quarter bundle that I received last year as a

Valentine Gift in an order from the Fat Quarter Shop

and added other scrap fabrics from my stash.

~

It has been icy cold and windy here in my quilty corner

and we have had some issues with our smart thermostat's online app.

Mr. Scrapatch had to install an old fashioned one to get our heat running again.

So it has been rather cold in my sewing corner

and I have been snuggling under the quilts at lot.

Now it it time to watch some playoff football.

Maybe I shall do some slow stitching on my heart cross stitch project.

~

I hope you have been warm and well and happy.

Sewing Curves

Today I was using old school methods,

cutting by hand from homemade cardboard templates.

I drew up this set of templates ...

... after to made the first two blocks for my

I am making scrappy fan blade blocks with my 8" Dresden Ruler.

The white background is also scrappy as I am using white tone-on-tone fabrics

left from other projects.

The circles in the first photo are cut into quarters for the inner curve.

I am very comfortable sewing curves.

I finger fold to find the center and insert my first pin.

Sometimes, I only use this single center pin.

Because I have not sewn many curves recently

I added more pins.

From the center I pin the outside, making sure the edges are straight

and then add one or two pins in between.

I remove the pins as I sew, easing the seam.

I take care not to pull the fabric too tight as that can distort the curve.

I use the same method for the outer curve.

I will be working on these blocks again tomorrow.

What are you sewing this weekend?

I hope you are having a happy, healthy quilty weekend.

Stitching and Sewing and Smiling

Tonight I am sitting and sewing and stitching and smiling.

It has been a heart warming week visiting all the beautiful hearts in the

Hearts On Fire Blog Hop @ Just Let Me Quilt

and I started reminiscing today.

So I pulled out this keepsake box I made long ago.

In it are photos and mementos like the tiny school portraits

of my children when they were young.

I am adding a few more recent treasures to this box tonight.

This was made seven years ago for

Hugs & Kisses XO Blog Hop

There was a cute photo of a much younger Katniss helping me

find threads that I had previously stored in the box.

Such a cute kitty helper.

Every time I sew and stitch I am making memories ... :-)

I have been playing with these fabrics today.

I have also been making progress on my

Stitches from the Heart Cross Stitch

~

I had a long list of likes for this week in a draft post

but decided instead to post this one photo.

It looks like a quilt to me,

pieced together with many pieces of pretty colored fabric

and, like a quilt, it warms me

to my heart.

A Unity Quilt

I am hopeful.
