Squares Sampler Afghan ~ Setting Strip 4

Setting Strip number four is done for my

Squares Sampler Afghan

This pattern is

Flower Rows by Daisy Farm Crafts

There is a video for this in the link below:

Crochet Flower Puffs ~ Video Tutorial ~ Daisy Farm Crafts

I really like this pattern.  When I showed it to my daughter she said they looked like little kitty paws to her.  Oooooh ... kitty paws! <3 <3 <3

As written, this pattern called for Wide Half Double Crochet (WHDC) stitches between the puff rows, but my sample did not look as good as would have liked, so I changed it up and made the background in their
Wide Half Double Crochet Clusters as in

My Candy Dots Setting Strip ~ Here

I really like the thickness and texture of this stitch.

I think this makes a lovely addition to my sampler squares and setting strips.

I am working on my last setting strip now.

I hope you are having a lovely weekend.

Happy Stitching!

Squares Sampler Afghan ~ Bobble Lines Setting Strip

My third setting strip for my

Squares Sampler Crochet Afghan is done.

I like the way the bobble lines connect the colors of the blocks on either side.

This stitch is adapted from this free pattern:

Colorful Bobble Lines Baby Blanket @ Daisy Farm Crafts

The how to video for this stitch may be found here:

Crochet Bobble Lines Video Tutorial @ Daisy Farm Crafts

The background stitch in gray is a Herringbone Half Double Crochet (HHDC) stitch,

alternated with lines of single crochet and 5 double crochet popcorn bobbles.

The dark gray does not stand out all that well, but I wanted to use all four colors of my yarn in some of these setting strips.

I also sewed today.

I am happy that I am finding time to work on my finishing my squares afghan

and paly with my fabric, too.

We have had a return to winter weather here this week and woke up to snow on the ground yesterday.

Today the wind chill brought temperatures down to the single digits.  Brrr!

Looking forward to spring weather.

I hope you have had a happy day of stitching and sewing.

Squares Sampler Afghan ~ Setting Strip # 2 Done!

My second setting strip for my

 Squares Sampler Crochet Afghan

is done.

This  is where I found this free pattern:

Candy Dots Baby Blanket Crochet Stitch @ Daisy Farm Crafts

The video tutorial for this stitch may be found here:

This is variation of their Wide Half Double Crochet (WHDC) Cluster

with a Puff Stitch making the candy dots,

This photo shows how this stitch looks the same on the front and back sides of the blanket.

I really like the texture of this stitch pattern.

I am thinking to make one setting strip per row of my squares sampler afghan.

I hope you are having a happy weekend.

Crochet Progress ~ Sampler Setting Strip One

Here is my first setting strip for my

 Squares Sampler Crochet Afghan

I made this strip following these free pattern instructions:

Modern Dash Crochet Baby Blanket @ Daisy Farm Crafts

This stitch pattern is what they call a

Wide Half Double Crochet (WHDC) Cluster.

It is not a pattern stitch I recall ever seeing or hooking before

but I really like the soft thick texture and the fact it is double sided.

Here is a close up of the stitch details in my gray and pink yarn.

The written instructions are in the link above and there is also good video tutorial to make this stitch:

Modern Dash Stitch Video Tutorial @ Daisy Farm Crafts

I used the swatch width to make my setting strip

and made my length the same as my large sampler square blocks.

I have found another nice pattern based on this WHDC cluster in the

Baby Crochet Blanket Patterns @ Daisy Farm Crafts

and am working on my next setting strip.

I love the patterns on this site.

May you have a happy weekend of sewing, stitching, crocheting

or whatever is your happy place.

Squares Sampler Crochet ~ Block # 11 Progress

Block 11 for my Squares Sampler Afghan is in progress.

Today was another "spring is coming" day in the scrapatch and I opened the window for awhile this afternoon, which helped to clear the paint fumes. We are putting a new coat of paint on the bedroom walls.  Home improvement photos soon. Today was a rare Monday holiday for Mr. Scrapatch so we also spent some time out and about and cooking and just enjoying the day.

This pattern stitch calls for alternating two stitches:

Pattern Stitch 6 ~ Moss Stitch/Single Crochet Stripes

I have done the moss stitch before.  I recall making a sage green sweater with dropped sleeves and ribbing on the cuffs when I was in my 20s.  I have no idea what happened to that sweater, but it was a favorite one spring.

Here is a good video tutorial for how to crochet this stitch:

There is a free pattern for a beautiful afghan crocheted in the Moss Stitch:

Modern Moss Stitch Blanket @ Daisy Farm Crafts

I have been exploring this site

e found many wonderful patterns here:

 Daisy Farm Crafts

and there is a treasure trove of  free how to videos on the

Daisy Farm Crafts YouTube

This wonderful site has me dreaming of new projects
while working on my sampler squares.

What shall I crochet next, I wonder?

For now I need to focus on the project at hand:

Since the afghan squares call for bands of 10 rows in the alternating stitches, I am using this little counter to keep track of what row I am on.  I click the button every time I turn a row.   It had a plastic band to wear it on a finger, but I took the band off a long time ago as I do not like to wear rings.

You cannot read it but I am on row 35, which is halfway there.

My block will be waiting for me tomorrow.

Time to call it a night.

May you have sweet quilty and stitchy dreams!
