Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 43

Welcome to Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 43

I have completed the stitching October Cross Stitch Along!

I have pulled fabrics and have a plan

for how I want to finish and display this next October.

I completed the stitching on last block late on Halloween night.

I have been enjoying this for a few days while I have decided that a few on my stitches need to be fixed before finishing. There is a letter in "Brew" that somehow got messed up while I was working on this that needs replacing. I have also decided that the colored lettering on my Monster Mash improv block needs to be in black like the rest of the lettering. I was trying to add a little color.  I am thinking of outlining the mummy and the skeleton to make them stand out better. This was the last block finished on Sunday night and my eyes were tired.

I loved participating in this SAL which was hosted by

Pine Needles

The free daily patterns have gone *poof*

as they will soon become a pattern for purchase.

Last year the steps to this Christmas Stitch Along

were also free daily blocks and I saved them.

I did not have time to stitch this last year.

This year I am thinking to start it now in November

in hopes I get it done before Christmas.

I have the floss pack and aida in my stash.

I am trying to decide which aida to use.

They are all 11 count:

Choice A : Zweigart  solid Ivory

Choice B:  hand dyed Antiqued

Choice C: hand dyed seafoam green

I purchased the hand dyes online @ Garibaldi's Needleworks

The Misty Grey in my October Cross Stich is also hand dyed 11 count aida from Garibald's.   I like the soft feel of this cloth.

Which color aida cloth would you choose?

Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 42 ~ 24 Days

Welcome to Week 24 of Stitch Sew & Show!

I have decided to participate in another Free Stitch Along.

This one is a sashiko skill builder ...

24 Days of Sashiko @ Sashiko.Lab

There are also free video tutorials for

How To Prepare Sashiko Cloth ~ Video Lessons

I started learning sashiko last year.

My First Sashiko ~ Click Here

I found this to be a very relaxing process.

I learned enough to design this for a

Sashiko Cherry Blossom Pincushion ~ Click Here

I would like to learn more and advance my skills and make more even stitches

and make a small sampler for a pillow or table quilt.

This new stitch along looks like the perfect opportunity to learn with others.

The first three days of have started with this basic grid.

Here is my Day 2 Sashiko progress.

The email lessons arrive in my email box very late in the day.

So I am just beginning day three.

I am also still stitching my

October Halloween Stitch Along @ Pine Needles

Click on this link to find the free daily blocks.

If you are interested save these now as the pattern will likely become a complete pattern  which will be for purchase next month.

This little block was an improv design to add ...

... my fluffy tailed gray and white Maine Coon cat, Katniss.

I am working on the orange and white cat block for my Nutmeg today

as well as trying to get the daily blocks caught up.

These tiny cross stitches make my eyes very tired and my vision blurry.

I am going to have to take a break from cross-stitching for awhile when my October stitch along is complete.

It has been very cool and rainy for days here in my corner of the world.

We have even lost internet access for the last two days,

although this should not be weather-related.

Today is another good day to stay inside and stitch.

was quick to stitch.

Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 41 ~ Still Slow Stitching

 Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 41

Is it Wednesday already?

I have been sitting and slowly stitching.
Today I carried my stitching with me for my annual physical
and a visit to the bloodwork lab.
I am well, it is just the routine stuff.

Here is my progress on my

October Halloween Stitch Along @ Pine Needles

This photo was taken a day or so ago.

I am not catching up very fast.

I will continue my slow stitching and see what I decide after Halloween

if I have not completed this sampler.

I am enjoying the stitching and the lovely group of stitchers.

Stitching Weekend ~ Day 2

Stitchy Weekend ~ Part 2

This weekend I have been able to stitch the daily block and one of the blocks that I need to complete to catch up with the daily posts for the

October Halloween Stitch Along @ Pine Needles

I am really enjoying this stitch along.

Today's block was this

Ghastly ~ Day 17

I decided to add black cross stitch eyes to the ghost

and add a few stars to the sky to add some sparkle to the blank space.

Today I also stitched the

Boo ~ Day 9

where I decided not to extend the witch's broom.

I made colorful letters as I  had decided to stitch the white ghosty next to it's "Boo" and did not want two white motifs next to each other.

Looking forward to tomorrow's block!

Stitching Weekend ~ Day 1

Stitchy Weekend ~ Part 1

I am still playing catch up with the

October Halloween Stitch Along @ Pine Needles

First I added one of the blocks that I needed do to catch up.

It is this Block 16 ~ Brew

Then I decided I could not resist stitching Saturday's Block,

Block 16 ~ Witch

next to her brew.

Magic Happened!

The bubbles floated over to the witch and the spoon jumped into her hand.

There is so much cute creativity in these little cross stitch motifs from the designer,

 Sandra Workman @ Pine Needles

that they bring out my own creative spark when I am stitching.

Sandra has left kind words on my calendar grid change on

Thank You, Sandra @pineneedlesutah

Looking forward to another happy day of stitching!

A Good Day To Sit and Stitch

After a day or two on more thinking than stitching on my

October Halloween Stitch Along @ Pine Needles

I added the block that says "WHO ..." which was designed to look like this:

Pine Needles SAL Block 13

In the original layout this block would appear to the right of the owl,

but because I changed the layout and added the Block 12 Owl in

a different spot with the wreath already on the right, I have to improvise.

I also had to frog a few leaf stitches out on my tree and extend it to the left.

Well, maybe I did not "have to" but I wanted to play.

I am happy with the design change and how this is working up.

Now I am figuring where to put the rest of the blocks

that I need to add to catch up.

Tomorrow there will be a new block.

I am hoping this will be a good weekend for sitting and stitching.

What are your plans?

May you and yours have a happy weekend!

Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 40 ~ More Sitting and Stitching

Welcome to Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 40

I have been stitching ~ I have not been sewing.

It seems my vision issues allow me to choose one or the other and when I need to take a break from one, I need to take a break from the other.

I have also been helping Mr. Scrapatch who is replacing the ceiling and light in one of the bedrooms. In all honesty, he is doing all the actual work of tearing out the old and replacing with the new. My contribution is more as support staff.

No photos of this mess.

This is the day 12 block for the

October Halloween Stitch Along @ Pine Needles

with a few additions of my own, like the leaves and the hoot.

I may have over done the leaves and may pick a few out.

I love the little owl!

Today's October 13th Mystery Block actually says "WHOO,"

so I will have a very talkative owl.

I may put it the new hoot the space to the left of my owl block.

I still have several small blocks to stitch before I am caught up.

I am a slow stitcher, so time will tell if I get this done by Halloween.

My October Stitch Along ~ Day 11

I am happily stitching along with the

Pine Needles Halloween Stitch Along 2021

The leaves are turning in the scrapatch

and October is turning into a very stitchy month.

Happy October!

A Slow Stitch October Weekend

The calendar grid is done for my

October Halloween Stitch Along @ Pine Needles

This has been a time consuming design change for me

as I am a slow stitcher but I am very happy with how this is working up.

I have figured out how to add the word "October"

in the extra space in the bottom row

and am stitching that now.

I will probably fill in this space with a few more spooky stitches.

I have gotten a few days behind on the cute little daily blocks

but they are quick and fun so I am hoping I will catch up with the

stitch along soon.

Halloween Stitch Along ~ Day 4

Day 4 is done for my version of the

October Halloween Stitch Along @ Pine Needles

I played with the colors in the original block for the Witch Hat ...

... and then added the word "Hex" after I saw another

stitcher add this lettering in her version of the block in the ...

Pine Needles Halloween Stitch Along Group on FB

I love stitching with a group.

The sharing and inspiration and support is wonderful!

Thank You, Pine Needles!

Halloween Stitch Along ~ Day 3

Day 3 is done for the

October Halloween Stitch Along @ Pine Needles

This is the first time I have backstitched on aida in a very long time.

My aida fabric is hand dyed 11 count from Garibaldi's Needleworks.

I like gray backgrounds and they are difficult to find in 10 or 11 count aida

so I am happy to have found a good source of these beautiful hand dyes.

My DMC floss is all colors from my stash.

I am happy with how this is stitching up.

The motifs in the blocks and the frames are small enough for me to complete in day. I am hopeful that I will be able to keep up and have the stitching complete by Halloween.

Time will tell.

I hope you and yours have had a happy weekend

and may your coming week be filled with love.

Halloween Stitch Along ~ Day 2

I could not resist this fun, free Halloween Stitch Along!

Day 2 is done for the

October Halloween Stitch Along @ Pine Needles

Day 1 was the the black grid, but I did not have time to complete it.

I will be continuing to add the grid one frame at a time

as I stitch the motifs each day.

I am using colors from my DMC stash.

My cloth is also from my stash and is a hand-dyed 11 count Aida.

As I am a slow stitcher,  I am hoping I am able to keep up.

I carried it with me and stitched while I chatted

at a family backyard barbecue today.
