Stitch Sew & Show ~ 2021 ~ Wrap-Up

Welcome!

As the year is coming to an end, I am looking back and looking forward.

This will be the last time I post this weekly linky party.

As happens between Thanksgiving and Christmas, my energies have been focused elsewhere and I have done very little sewing, stitching or blogging.

I am in the process of deciding if I want to continue this linky party in 2022.

I have made some lovely new friends here and stayed connected with a few old ones, too.

This makes me happy.

Mostly, this is a no-stress thing for me.

If I stitch, I show.

If I don't, I am a virtual no-show at my own linky party.

Being a no-show makes me unhappy.

I have even had thoughts about putting my blog on pause.

So to continue or not?

Hmmmm ... ???

~~~
I have looked at the blog hops in the works for next year:
Sneak Peek ~ Blog Hops 2022 ~ @ MooseStashQuilting
I have signed up for the January Polar Bear Plunge Blog Hop.
I actually have a couple of blue UFOs that need sewing.
So I will be starting the year off with blog hopping goodness.
I guess this means I have resolved to blog on!
If you have any thoughts on any of this, please share.
If you have any suggestions to improve this linky party, please suggest.
If you have any thoughts on a different theme or day for a linky party,
I am interested.
Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 45
Welcome to Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 45
The year is blowing away on a crisp fall breeze.
I have had another busy week, but I have found some time to stitch and sew.
I have added a few more letters to my "G" word.
There has been some lovely guesses as to what this may be saying.
Hint: This is a Christmas themed cross-stitch.
I have never stitched on black aida before and it is much more difficult than I thought, especially when using white thread. Every little messy thread shows.
I have also made two more blocks for my Sampler Spree Quilt.
That six and a half inch basket block has some little pieces.
It was fun to sew.
I am thinking of appliqueing a flower or two.
My fabrics are a Christmas line.
So I am stitching and sewing Christmas.
Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 43
Welcome to Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 43
I have completed the stitching October Cross Stitch Along!
I have pulled fabrics and have a plan
 for how I want to finish and display this next October.
I completed the stitching on last block late on Halloween night.
 I have been enjoying this for a few days while I have decided that a few on my stitches need to be fixed before finishing. There is a letter in "Brew" that somehow got messed up while I was working on this that needs replacing. I have also decided that the colored lettering on my Monster Mash improv block needs to be in black like the rest of the lettering. I was trying to add a little color.  I am thinking of outlining the mummy and the skeleton to make them stand out better. This was the last block finished on Sunday night and my eyes were tired.
I loved participating in this SAL which was hosted by
Pine Needles
The free daily patterns have gone *poof*
 as they will soon become a pattern for purchase.
Last year the steps to this Christmas Stitch Along
were also free daily blocks and I saved them.
 I did not have time to stitch this last year.
This year I am thinking to start it now in November
 in hopes I get it done before Christmas.
I have the floss pack and aida in my stash.
I am trying to decide which aida to use.
They are all 11 count:
Choice A : Zweigart  solid Ivory
Choice B:  hand dyed Antiqued
Choice C: hand dyed seafoam green
I purchased the hand dyes online @ Garibaldi's Needleworks
The Misty Grey in my October Cross Stich is also hand dyed 11 count aida from Garibald's.   I like the soft feel of this cloth.
Which color aida cloth would you choose?
Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 42 ~ 24 Days
Welcome to Week 24 of Stitch Sew & Show!
I have decided to participate in another Free Stitch Along.
This one is a sashiko skill builder ...
24 Days of Sashiko @ Sashiko.Lab
There are also free video tutorials for
How To Prepare Sashiko Cloth ~ Video Lessons
I started learning sashiko last year.
My First Sashiko ~ Click Here
I found this to be a very relaxing process.
I learned enough to design this for a
Sashiko Cherry Blossom Pincushion ~ Click Here
I would like to learn more and advance my skills and make more even stitches
and make a small sampler for a pillow or table quilt.
This new stitch along looks like the perfect opportunity to learn with others.
The first three days of have started with this basic grid.
Here is my Day 2 Sashiko progress.
The email lessons arrive in my email box very late in the day.
So I am just beginning day three.
I am also still stitching my
 October Halloween Stitch Along @ Pine Needles
Click on this link to find the free daily blocks.
If you are interested save these now as the pattern will likely become a complete pattern  which will be for purchase next month.
This little block was an improv design to add ...
... my fluffy tailed gray and white Maine Coon cat, Katniss.
I am working on the orange and white cat block for my Nutmeg today
as well as trying to get the daily blocks caught up.
These tiny cross stitches make my eyes very tired and my vision blurry.
I am going to have to take a break from cross-stitching for awhile when my October stitch along is complete.
It has been very cool and rainy for days here in my corner of the world.
We have even lost internet access for the last two days,
although this should not be weather-related.
Today is another good day to stay inside and stitch.
was quick to stitch.
Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 41 ~ Still Slow Stitching
 Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 41
Is it Wednesday already?
I have been sitting and slowly stitching.
Today I carried my stitching with me for my annual physical
and a visit to the bloodwork lab.
I am well, it is just the routine stuff.
Here is my progress on my
 October Halloween Stitch Along @ Pine Needles
This photo was taken a day or so ago.
I am not catching up very fast.
I will continue my slow stitching and see what I decide after Halloween
if I have not completed this sampler.
I am enjoying the stitching and the lovely group of stitchers.
Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 40 ~ More Sitting and Stitching
Welcome to Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 40
I have been stitching ~ I have not been sewing.
It seems my vision issues allow me to choose one or the other and when I need to take a break from one, I need to take a break from the other.
I have also been helping Mr. Scrapatch who is replacing the ceiling and light in one of the bedrooms. In all honesty, he is doing all the actual work of tearing out the old and replacing with the new. My contribution is more as support staff.
No photos of this mess.
This is the day 12 block for the
 October Halloween Stitch Along @ Pine Needles
with a few additions of my own, like the leaves and the hoot.
I may have over done the leaves and may pick a few out.
I love the little owl!
Today's October 13th Mystery Block actually says "WHOO,"
so I will have a very talkative owl.
I may put it the new hoot the space to the left of my owl block.
I still have several small blocks to stitch before I am caught up.
I am a slow stitcher, so time will tell if I get this done by Halloween.
Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 39 ~ Sewing Machine Spa Day
Welcome to Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 39
I have been stitching this week on my
 October Halloween Stitch Along @ Pine Needles
This has been a fun project.
I have not been sewing.
My workhorse of a sewing machine, my Janome 6600p needs a spa day.
I have been having a difficult time adjusting the tension,
something that has never happened before in my almost daily sewing sessions.
It has been two years, almost to the day,
 since she has been professionally cleaned and serviced.
The last time was this
October 2019 Sewing Machine Spa Day
The pandemic has kept me and my machine home by ourselves and I have done my best to clean and oil here, but it is time for an expert pair of hands.
Since I am not ready to drop my baby off somewhere, it is fortunate that
This Sewing Machine Doctor Does House Calls!
If you live in Rhode Island, Massachusetts or eastern Connecticut
and want to have a sewing machine spa day in your home,  call or contact
I will be stitching while he is fixing.
Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 38 ~ My Bats & Boos Quilt is Done!
Welcome to Stitch Sew & Show ~ Week 38!
My Bats & Boos Quilt ~Started Here is finished!
I completed the binding on Monday and took it out for a few photos in natural light before packing it up for its journey. I am sending this to my daughter and here family for a sofa snuggle quilt. I am happy they will be able to enjoy it for the full month of October.
This started as a quilt along project.
The center blocks are all from the
Bats & Boos Quiltalong @ Fat Quarter Shop
All of these block patterns may be found in the link above.
The Ghost Block @ Center Street Quilts ~ Link Here
This block is my own design. My Witch Hat Block ~ Tutorial Here
The colors in this quilt are so vibrant even on a gray day.
It had rained most of the day but I completed the binding
as the sun appeared briefly through the clouds just before it set.
This quilt makes me smile.
For more linky party fun I am linking up this month with
