Trinket Sew Along 2023

It's Back!

This is happening again!

Trinket Sew Along 2023 ~ Landing Page

@

Alison Glass

In 2019, I joined in this fun:

My Trinket Sew Along 2019

My plan was rather ambitious:

 Two Quilts ~ One Stash

In addition to the daily Trinket Blocks I was sewing my

Ventana Quilt ~ Started Here

I sewed my trinket blocks and a

I was on a quilty roll at the time and I made good progress.

Then Life Happened.

Family matters required a short trip out-of-state.

Then I had some health issues.

I sewed along and did my best to get

Trinket SAL ~ Back on Track

I got as far as these "Things" Blocks

Ventana Quilt ~ Halfway Home

Then ... dud=h-duh-duh-da >>>

What Happened ~ I bought a long arm!

My sewing room had to be emptied to make way for my quilting room.

It has been a wonderful adventure

but my trinket blocks and fabric when into a project box

for the duration and has not been opened in a long, long time.

I enjoyed seeing all the quilts completed in the sew-along that year.

Wistfully, I wished to sew along.

The years have turned and this adventure is coming around again!

This time I hope to finish my quilt during the sew-along.

Wish me luck!

Good Day Sewing

I made four more blocks for my

I really and enjoying sewing this pattern.
This is a very easy Foundation Paper Pieced Pattern.

Also,

Scrappy Saturday came early and I made my weekly

Scrappy Week 13 Block
for the

It is raining now as I get ready to tuck in my sewing machine and turn off my computer.

It has felt damp and cool all day.
My aches and pains are complaining,
but I had a good day of sewing.

It is supposed to be a warm weekend.
Hope to get out in the spring air.
My hubby has a long weekend
as it is Patriot's Day in Massachusetts on Monday,
a day to celebrate life and freedom.

What are your plans for this weekend?

Ventana Quilt ~ Halfway Home

I have half the blocks done for my Ventana Quilt.
Plus 1
I actually have 16 blocks.

Not sure which one I made but did not photograph and count correctly.
It may be the orange one in the second row on the left.

This pattern calls for 30 blocks.

I may add a row to make it 6 rows of 6 blocks.

Looking at these, I am thinking I need more yellow and light blue or aqua blocks.

I have just been pulling whatever Fat 8th or Fat Quarter appealed
to me and cutting and sewing.
Time to start using the design wall and think about color placement.

This is the pattern ...
Ventana Quilt Pattern @ Alison Glass

It is foundation paper piecing.
The pieces are large, though, so it is a very easy FPP pattern.

and I am really enjoying fussy cutting and sewing these blocks.

Here are today's  blocks,
 #15 and #16

I also completed my three Things 2 Blocks
for the #trinketsal challenge today.

It has been rainy and chilly the last few days.

Good days to stay in and sew.

I am hoping for sun tomorrow.

May you have a happy quilty night.

Back on Track and Feeling Better

Day 21 ~ Things 1

Halfway point for the

I am a week behind.

Last week necessitated a visit with my doctor.

I did some sewing but did not feel up to these fussy  foundation paper pieced blocks.

I am going to try to sew some of the blocks I missed as I sew this along this week.

If I have to sew last week at the end, I am okay with it.

Here is my Ventana Block 13 for

This is not part of the Trinket SAL.

I am sewing this second quilt as a personal challenge

so I am feeling on all caught up on this one.

I do very much enjoy sewing these blocks.

May your sewing week be off to a good start.

Two Quilts ~ One Stash Sew Along Friday Update

This is the backing and binding fabric I have picked out for my Ventana Quilt.

Only two Ventana Blocks to show  this week.

Block 11

Block 12

I love this bird fabric.

I think the cute bunnies from the  the Michael Miller Front Yard line
will only appear on the backing, though.

Here are my trinket blocks for the week:

Shapes 1

Shapes 2

Shapes 3 & 4
only one block each so far.

I am making 3 per design so I need to make more
and I need to get today's challenge block done.

It has been a busy week other than sewing
and my machine was in for service.

Excuses, excuses.

I should have gotten more done.

Hope to get today's Shapes 5 and another Ventana block before sleep.

Will be away from my sewing machine a few days this weekend.

Hope to have progress on my hand sewing to show on Sunday night.

Have a happy quilty weekend!

Sew Far ~ Sew Good

Ventana ~ Day 10 ~ Lines #10

Two weeks in and I am up to date

I am making three blocks for each trinket design
so I will have 120 Trinket blocks when I am done.

One Stash ~ Two Quilts

I have doubled the personal challenge by sewing both
the larger Ventana Blocks and the daily Trinket Blocks

Day 9

I have really been enjoying this sew along.

There is a fun and supportive

Lots of inspiring quilts n the making!

Ventana Block 8

I had a bit of a setback early in this week when my sewing machine
started having major stitch issue while I was trying to quilt a quilt.

Lines 8 Blocks

Although I am going to have to take it in for cleaning and adjustments next week,
I am able to do basic stitching (no quilting) and have a back-up, no frills machine.
So I have been able to make adjustments and keep up with each day's
Trinket block challenge.

Day 7 Blocks

By Wednesday I had caught up with my blocks

Tuesday was  a bit rough as most of the day and Monday was spent
tinkering with my machine and reorganizing my plans.

I did get the one block done I needed to meet the challenge.

Day 6 ~ Lines 6 Trinkets

Monday I had the blocks all ready
as I sewed on Friday.

I am loving the way the 10.5" Ventana blocks showcase larger print fabrics.

I am ready for the weekend break to catch up with other things
and get my back-up machine out of the box in the closet
and up and running for next week.

May you have a happy quilty weekend!

Up and Sewing

Trinket Day 7 ~ Lines 7

This block makes me think of the song, "Islands in the Stream."

Despite my machine issues,
I am still on track with my
as I got the required one block done  on time
for the yesterday'and posted to
#trinketsal on Instagram.

After a bit of tinkering, I was able to get my Janome
working, although not as well as usual.

Also, I found a quilt shop where I can take her
for a spa treatment next week.

On the weekend, I will get a back-up machine up and running for a few days.

I am not looking forward to going back to the dark ages where
my machine had no start/stop button, knee lift
and built-in needle threader.
It will be like teaching myself to sew again.

Today I was able to sew all three Trinket blocks for
Day 8 ~ Lines 8

I love the little paper boats..

I also sewed Ventana Block # 7

Sew I am almost caught up with this one.

I have the pieces to one more Ventana block and two Line 7 blocks next
to my machine and will go back an coax a few more stitches
out of my machine later tonight.

A Happy Week of Sewing

My first foundation pieced block in a few years.

I started this quilt Here.
and I am really enjoying fussy cutting and sewing these blocks.

This is

I bought a kit for this pattern about four years ago and never got to it.
I am happy that I am finally getting to it.

I felt all thumbs for the first few minutes,
but my foundation paper piecing skills came back
like riding a horse.
I feel achy and accomplished now.
I am pleased with myself for getting back in the saddle.

My FPP Tutorial may be found here

Here are my next four blocks.
I am going to love this quilt
and I am now pulling favorite fat quarters
from my stash to add to the quilt.

There is a two-fold reason for starting this quilt now.

One:  I love these fabrics and pattern and want to sew it.

Two:  I want to use the  scraps from making my Ventana block in my

This sew along is a personal challenge for me.

The piece with the selvage on the bottom right
and the skinny scrap on the upper left
are my "scraps" from the fat eighth I cut for Ventana Block #1.

Here are some of my Week #1 Trinket SAl blocks.
My background fabrics right now are four shades of blue
Uncorked by Windham Fabrics

I am making thee of each of the daily trinket blocks
and will determine final blocks, layout, background, etc, as I sew along.

It has been a happy week of sewing.

One of the things I like about this sew along
is how has been thoughtfully set up to sew Monday though Friday
and my weekends are open to sew other things.
I have been able to keep up with these challenge blocks and
with my other sewing.

This weekend I dd not make more blocks but I did play with my scraps on Saturday.

I made a March Mug Rug for next to my computer.

Also, I have been working on a project for a blog hop later in the month.

Here is a sneak peek.

More soon.

I did some slow stitching on my embroidery project.

While watching an old movie,
my hubby petted the Nutmeg
and I stitched.

I  finished the pink bleeding heart flowers,
added the darker pink stamen stems
and started the yellow french knots on the tips.

I hope to finish the french knots tonight
but right now I am enjoying a cup of tea and
I am going to visit with the talented stitchers at

Slow Sunday Stitching

What have you been sewing this
Worldwide Quilting Day
weekend?
